- X5749JBbeckys0 contributionsWonderful Warwick castle ❤️🌟ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!! From the moment I booked, to the text message service, getting to there with a lovely greeting at the hotel and every one we met Day at the castle = perfect! Bird show was excellent with a great handler speech… love the owl! Light walk was breathtaking at times! Last and most definitely not least- the sleep over! ❤️. We had diner in the tavern pub, lovely service, the Hotel room was super cute! Elf wake up, brilliant and the Santa story just WONDERFUL! On top of this we were looked after at breakfast by lovely friendly staff, who took time to chat to us and our baby! FULLY RECOMMEND 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Written 4 December 2024
- Christinemeade660 contributionsMagical experienceWhole experience from start to finish was out of this world. Story time with Santa was really magical and our granddaughter loved the elf who knocked on door and told her she was on the good list and was invited to story timeWritten 4 December 2024
- Venture422622639280 contributionsA Wonderful Warwick ChristmasAbsolutely brilliant .. staying with the grandchildren in a Knights Lodge was magical especially when the Elves turned in the morning to say hello … Santa was really good and nothing was rushed .. The light trail was fantastic .. would recommend the ice skating but I fell over & even the staff at the ice rink were really caring and nothing was too much trouble .. evening meal was good with a performance for the children and breakfast was exceptional .. well worth a visit and will definitely be going again ..Written 4 December 2024
- Kelly Anne D0 contributionsWonderful but avoid the buffetThe place, the people, the light trail, panto team, Santa and pretty much everyone we spoke to was wonderful. We stayed in the hotel super clean, comfortable. For our 3 year old the whole thing was magical. Santa and the elves were wonderful and he’s told everyone we’ve seen since! We did the light trail which was fab. Didn’t plan to stay for food (as not heard the best things) but it rained so we decided to risk it. Every single thing there was cold. Even the new cheesy potato (that I watched them put out ‘fresh’) £27 per person is a lot for a carvery but seems extortionate for cold and not so great food! I didn’t complain as didn’t feel like would make any difference so I went and grabbed a bag of haribo and that was my dinner 😂 It may be why it wasn’t that busy though. Would absolutely go again, but wouldn’t eat there at the knights tables unfortunately. Which is a shame as it could easily be really good. Will check out the lodge next time in case can take own food as that would be great for us.Written 3 December 2024
- 287RachelC0 contributionsSanta Sleepover ReviewWe booked the Santa sleepover experience as a family of five with three young children, aged 5 and our 2 year old twins and we all had such a lovely time overall. The castle was very festive, the elf wake up call was magical and the stories with Santa was lovely too. The only thing that we didn't enjoy was the evening meal that we paid separately for at the knights village. Our booking was for 5pm and we arrived at 5.05pm after getting lost, to be told that the table had to be departed at 6pm, which felt stressful and very rushed. But being British we tried to get on with it as we had 3 hungry young kids, so we queued in a line patiently to get the kids meals and by the time we had finally finished queing and had sorted the kids meals out, we had 30 mins or so to queue again and quickly wolf down our dinner and dessert (we didnt bother with a starter as we didnt have time to have one) and we had no idea what was happening in the pantomime show as we were too busy rushing about trying to collect food for 5 people. After a long day of car travel and walking, it unfortunately completely ruined the night for us as it was just a very rushed meal and stressful experience. Meal sittings should be 2 hrs, not 1 hour, especially for families with young kids as everything takes 2/3 times longer, but obviously Merlin Entertainment are squeezing more sittings into each evening to generate more revenue for themselves and it was a real shame as it really spoilt what should have been a nice evening. It wasn't cheap either. £11 for a glass of wine? Crazy. We would go back again, as the experience as a whole apart from the evening experience was really great and the staff were all lovely, but knowing how closeby the town centre is now, we would go there for dinner instead.Written 3 December 2024
- danjL5208UN0 contributionsMagical Xmas Experience, but maybe avoid the carveryMy 4 year old daughter and I went for a Santa Sleepover in Dec 2024 and it was honestly brilliant. The Elf Wake Up was a highlight - my daughter was really engaged with the whole thing and loved the Santa Stories in the Grotto. Big shoutout to Sparkles the Elf and the rest of the team - you guys really were committed to the roles! The lodge we stayed in was ideal - clean, comfy and warm. Perfect for a one night stay. My only slight disappointment was dinner at the Knight’s Table restaurant. The carvery was pretty average, service was slow, lack of cutlery and desserts and potentially a little overwhelming with the panto show going on as well as trying to work out what was happening with food problems. When we paid at the end of the meal, the staff accepted that it wasn’t what was should be expected when I said I was disappointed and that £52 for me and my daughter to eat with one soft drink each seemed excessive. So they agreed to a 50% reduction, which was graciously accepted. All in all though - a magical experience for a daddy/daughter night away!Written 3 December 2024
- fozzy6660 contributionsAbsolutely fantasticThe whole thing was absolutely fantastic. The staff were extremely helpful from the moment we arrived. The facilities were great. We stayed over in the knights village. Once again the facilities were great. The light trail was exceptional the castle was ChristmassyWritten 2 December 2024
- sd820220 contributionsChristmas crackerThe staff went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. The winter birds of prey display was incredibly informative and engaging. We enjoyed the exhibition in the castle and the light trail was joyful. We stayed in the hotel which was warm and welcoming with a fun crazy evening meal and a hearty breakfast.Written 2 December 2024
- amandatV5909JS0 contributionsOur new favourite placeOur new favourite place! Warm accomodations, inviting welcoming staff and delicious food. Considering we missed most the extra activities as we were there between events and the weather was wet the playground was closed my only fault was poor signage from the accomodations to the main entrance. We would love to come back in warmer weather The light trail was awesome Was great that we could book a package including cadburys worldsWritten 1 December 2024
- lindawQ9768YO0 contributionsA special Xmas experience just grandma and granddaughterWhat an experience. So much to do and see. Blu (8) thought it was amazing being woken by an Elf and the story time with SantaWritten 1 December 2024
- C452EPandyd0 contributionsExcellent Santa sleep over experienceWe booked Santa sleep over and had an amazing time. Elf's waked up was absolutely brilliant. The staff at the Castle was very helpful and friendly. The restaurant was very busy but we met very hardworking people ready to help and assist. The receptionists were very kind too. The breakfast was very fresh and tasty. Highly recommended for family with young children.Written 1 December 2024
- 720greggs0 contributionsLittle detail let the experience down.We decided to kick of our family Christmas with a trip to Warwick Castle and 1 night in the Nights Village. The Castle and grounds were fantastic as ever and we all really enjoyed the Ice skating and light trail. we had booked to stay in the Knights Village and after a fab buy chilly evening (temps dropping below 0) we checked into our lodge before venturing to the Knights Table for dinner. Upon getting to our lodge we discovered a lovely clean lodge, sadly inside it was freezing cold! after a few mins of searching I finally located the thermostat (no directions or instructions were in the lodge). Thinking our time out for dinner would give the lodge chance to warm up we disappeared for dinner. Upon return (over an hour) the lodge wasn't much warmer. we'd been out in the cold all day and were all tired so decided to call it a night. It was a good few hours into the night before the lodge finally warmed up to the point where to obligatory night time trip to the loo wasn't a cold one! After breakfast we checked out of our lodge. We decided to raise our issue with reception more in the hope that this was a rare oversite and to stop others having a similar experience. Sadly the disinterested girl informed us this was standard policy for the lodges. Why when the outside temperature has been in single digits all day and overnight temperatures are set to be a few below zero would you allow guests to check in to a lodge where the heating has been left off! We still had a fantastic break as Warwick Castle is stunning and the lights and Ice Skating the kids found fantastic. The evening meal was a little expensive for what you got especially as we have Merlin Gold passes and receive a discount. but overall we will definitely be back to experience Warwick Castle at Christmas.Written 29 November 2024
- Unicorn_trm0 contributionsLovely, lovely, lovely then awful! The walk round the castle was fun. We then went to the Christmas light show. That was truly amazing, we loved it. We then went to book in at the Castle's hotel. A fab room, clean and exactly as advertised. Was looking forward to our evening meal with entertainment as well. Unfortunately this is were it went wrong. It was a Pantomime on a small stage right next to the tables. The cast played out their characters around us whilst we were eating. Had I have known I wouldn't have gone. It gives me huge anxiety people coming up and trying to bring you into the act. I found the language and innuendo, at times, inappropriate with young children present. It was incredibly loud. This led to us leaving most of our food and walking out after paying the hefty £67 bill. I appreciate some may have enjoyed it but had I'd been made aware of what the 'entertainment' was I wouldn't have gone. It really put a downer on an otherwise enjoyable short break 😞Written 26 November 2024
- Dream7699520 contributionsGreat but expensiveWe attended the Christmas Santa Reading event. The price was £380 give or take. The price included 2 adults and 1 child. It allowed access to the castle for the day. It was then followed by a meal in the knights hall (£98 for a carvery and 1 drink each) and an overnight stay. The hotel itself was really impressive and we all really enjoyed the room. It was genuinely lovely. Clean, new and the staff were excellent. We spend some time in the bar and the prices were pretty eye watering. A pint was £7 and a glass of wine was £12. The bar was lovely though and staff were good. In the morning we were woken by an elf who gave our son a sleigh bell which was fantastic. We then went for a buffet breakfast (included) before meeting santa and being read a story. Again, this was excellent. We didn't do the castle day trip as the weather was terrible but have been before and that too was excellent. Overall a great experience but, taking into account we didn't do anything during the day, it was a £600 trip which was steep.Written 24 November 2024

We booked a trip to visit the castle as it somewhere we have always wanted to take the kids. We got there at 12pm and as we arrived people were leaving, this was immediately a concern as it only opened at 10.30. When we got in headed straight to look around the castle, as much as this was a lonely castle I have been to other that were much more impressive and informative. We didn't see any knights or princesses which was very disappointing and the castle it's self was a short 30 minute walk around. After that we went to see the falcon show, which was by far the best bit of the whole trip and was safely distances for covid-19 purposes. After that my eldest really wanted to try archery, this was at an extra cost of £5pp. I was very shocked at after paying the best part of £100 to get in they would then charge more! After this we walked around for a while thinking we might find something else to do but no, that was it!! Nothing. As we had a 2 day pass we called it a day and the left walking around the castle wall and towers for the next day. We did go back the next day and stayed all of about an hour and half, so could see why people were in fact leaving at that time on the first day. We get chatting the lovely bowman, this was the first person in the whole 2 days we came across and he was great. He told us all about his arrows and how he made them, he took lots of time to talk to the kids and they loved him. He is the one asset the castle has. Over all I was very disappointed and thought there would be much more to do, I wouldn't recommend spending your money here. There are much better places for half the price.

WOW! What can I say? Hmm, nothing good if i'm honest. First impressions? £6 for parking! Shocking! Got to the ticket gate to be greeted by an elderly member of staff with no welcoming manner whatsoever! We then got into the castle itself and asked if there were any history tours taking place throughout the day. The man who we asked didn't know so had to shout over to his two colleagues who were standing like mannequins on the opposite side of the room! They didn't even bother to come over to tell us themselves. All they did was shout back with a time. No enthusiasm or passion about the place!
By the time we had walked around all the rooms, we wanted to sit and relax with a drink and some food. We walked to the main restaurant which was closed, then walked up to the glass house cafe which was, yep you guessed it, closed! We had to ask someone where we could go to get drinks and food as there were no signs around telling us where was open. We had to ask yet another member of staff who said that we had to walk all the way back up to the main entrance to the cafe there! It's crazy that non of the main cafes were open on the main site.
We got to the cafe to find a very glum looking girl on the till. No smile and no friendly greeting. We sat down and ordered our food and ended up having to wait almost an hour. It wasn't even that busy as our visit was during a weekday. I asked where our food was and the same girl who was on the till didn't apologise and said she'd go and find out! She didn't even come back to tell us how long it was going to be! When the food came out, again, there was no apology for the wait time. For the prices we were hoping that we would get something that was worth it! Clearly not! The food was bog standard and not worth the money at all so make sure you bring your own food if you visit.
On a positive, the castle itself is really fabulous and the exhibitions in each room are very cleverly and clearly set out. There's lots of history and things to read and interact with. However, if you're going to visit, do it in the summer when there are more events happening and when the actors are there. They're the ones who really bring the place to life. The staff always seem really glum and unhelpful so it's a thumbs down for the customer service for sure from me.

We’re disappointed that some aspects of your visit did not meet your expectations. The parking fee is for the whole day and goes towards heritage maintenance, we are currently undergoing restoration on the South Front masonry of the castle.
In regards to our Food & Beverage units, I am sorry to hear about your frustration with this. Due to the current circumstances we unfortunately don't have the visitor volume to justify having more than one restaurant open, particularly during a weekday so I apologise that you found this frustrating.
Your feedback on the service you received in our Coach House restaurant is appreciated and will be reviewed by one of our team members.
I sincerely hope that these aspects didn't detract from your enjoyment of the castle itself.

I’m afraid I just don’t understand why this attraction is so expensive. I paid £165 for two adults and three children and so expected to be wowed by the place. It seemed to be a day of queuing to then spend 20 minutes at best looking around the castle/ramparts due to the sheer volume of people shuffling along behind us. The rooms in the castle are understandably roped off to protect their contents but this then leaves a small area to actually see the room. With the amount of people there, it was impossible to stand for any length of time and enjoy it. This was even when it was 40% quieter than usual (as I was told on the phone when I booked it).
The queues at the snack stalls were ridiculous and the service was painfully slow.
40 ministers just to get into the gift shop!
The cafe in the conservatory was massively overpriced. £4.25 for a cheap sausage roll!
£7 for a kids lunch bag with a plain cheese sandwich, apple, water and popcorn bag.
Our three children can find fun in most things...simple walks, National Trust houses etc, but they were bored out of their minds for most of the day. (Allowed 15 mins in order to get them an ice cream before the bird display started but then missed most of it because of slow service at the snack kiosk. It took half an hour to pick 3 ice creams out of a freezer and pay for them.
I honestly feel that you’d be better off paying £25 or so (as a non member) to go into a National Trust house/grounds and then spending the other money on something else that you know would really please your children.
The dungeon was pretty good and although I paid an extra £50 for this it saved the day.
All in all, the day cost around £200. I never mind spending money when I feel that our children or us have had an amazing time but don’t like feeling ripped off. I know that it costs a lot to upkeep such a beautiful place, but it was disproportionately expensive for what it offered. Queuing, huge walk from car park to castle, excessively busy, overpriced food, £6 to get out of car park, quick whistle stop look around castle and that’s about it.
Definitely won’t be returning. Kids won’t ask to go again either thankfully!!

My wife thought it would be nice to visit Warwick Castle while we staying up in Warwick. She looked on the internet and spotted that if you book online you can get a 30% discount on the tickets, Great I thought lets do it. We tried to book but when we clicked on "buy tickets" the price suddenly went up with out any reason. The original price was £18.00 each then it jumped to £20.00 each at the final check out it became £23.00 each, some considerable amount short of the 30% discount that was promised. I decided to go to the online chat feature to ask what the issue was, I had to wait a few minutes for one of their "wizards" to respond. Eventually wizard Harry came on to the chat but I have to say that he was no more a wizard than I was and had no real interest in assist me with the issue simply answering that he didnt know why it did that sometimes. We brought the tickets at £23.00 each feeling less than happy with the deal but my wife really did want to go. We visited the castle the next day and the attraction itself was very good and we enjoyed our time there but my enjoyment was quickly squashed when I then realised that I needed to pay a further £6.00 before my car would be allowed to leave the car park! I dont mind heritage sites making enough money to enable themselves to stay open for all to enjoy but I do suspect someone is making some profit here and if you are going to do that be bloody transparent about it especially if you want people to continue to support the work you are doing!

When booking on the website for the discounted tickets, it has to be at least 4 days in advance otherwise it will give you the 'on the day' price, which is what may have happened. We would like to apologise that you had this experience with the online chat. Unfortunately, they are not resident to Warwick Castle.
As you may be aware, the Castle is privately owned and self-funded. Whilst English Heritage and National Trust receive government support and lottery bursaries for maintenance and rely on a team of volunteers as stewards and assistants, all this has to be paid for out of fees at Warwick. At Warwick Castle, revenue generated from admissions and parking charges is re-invested in the maintenance and renovation of the Castle. In the last year alone we have spent approximately £1.5m on masonry repairs to Guy’s Tower and other walls, redecoration of the Royal Weekend Party rooms and fire compartmentalisation.
We hope that this didn't detract from your visit too much.

Myself, my partner and our 9 year old child enjoyed a great day out last week at Warwick Castle. We paid for full admission as well as the Dungeon tour.
Booking was very clear and simple on their website, and although the que was huge when we arrived, we bypassed that due to our pre-booked tickets.
We went round the maze on arrival which was great, and then did the castle dungeons. It lasted only 30 minutes (York and London dungeons are an hour). Apart from a rather rude lady at the start, the actors where brilliant.
Following on from this, we looked round the castle itself. It was superb! Very helpful staff and a very impressive and well looked after building.
Now for the part I didn’t enjoy. The price of food and drinks. There is an ok selection of light refreshments available, but the price is astronomical! Far far too expensive. I would highly recommend for people to bring their own picnic in which there is plenty of places to eat it.
Finally, we went to watch the Falcon display. This was absolutely fantastic! One of the best I’ve seen (second to the one in Knutsford).
A good day had by all. Spoilt by ridiculous beverage prices.

I’ve stayed away from big attractions since COVID, but my daughter had done a project on castles at school and i wanted to Reward her with a day out.
Wow! Just wow!
Our day out was fantastic.
The staff were so incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel safe and offered really useful guidance as we went around.
The shows were great - but the haunted features (Spooked and the Hollows) were so good. I wished we could have come at night when it would all have been lit up.
The Falconers Quest was a stunning show. A great idea that allowed for everyone to enjoy something special whilst keeping a distance. I can’t express how awesome this show was - and that finale!!!! Spectacular!!
Warwick Castle seems to have really focussed on making you feel safe whilst still giving amazing value for money.
I’ve visited a few times in the last 5 years but this was the most memorable.
Amazing work!!

We are so happy that our staff was able to help you though out your visit.
As we proudly host the UK's biggest Birds of Prey show, we are very pleased to hear that you share the same appreciation for our fascinating birds. Our own specially trained Falconer works incredibly hard with our birds to achieve such an impressive show, and to receive such positive feedback is very rewarding.
We hope to see you again soon.

A wonderful place to spend the afternoon or a day when the sun is out. Some incredible views.
Inside the castle you can really appreciate the history and what has come before. From suits of armour is the great hall to tapestries on the walls in the bedrooms.
The added points of bird shows and dungeons add more to the experience.
Do be aware that parking is a flat rate of £6 should you be there an hour or all day.
Temperatures are being checked upon entry and pre booking is a requirement for entry.
Makes a great day out for the family.

I have been looking forward to this experience for many years and I wish it lived up to my expectations. My first disappointment came when we had to pay for parking our car at a cost of £6, my other disappointed came from the over all quality and impression of the interior of the castle, we have visited many castles throughout Britain and have never came away thinking where is our admission fee going. The areas for eating were limited especially with the weather being wet and windy. However the dungeon visit was very good, highly recommend this but small children be aware it could possibly be scary for them.

We’re sorry to hear that you didn’t feel as if you received value for money during your visit to Warwick Castle. We aim to provide a whole day of historic entertainment for people of all ages: though our history team tours where you can learn about the history of the castle, over 300 information boards, interactive displays such as the Kingmaker and the Horrible Histories Maze where children can learn about different aspects of history as they make their way through the maze and much more.
Our actors work hard to make the Dungeon experience as believable and enjoyable as possible it is great to hear that you enjoyed it. We appreciate your feedback on you trip and we hope that this didn't detract from your visit too much.

We are a young couple 23-26 and decided to visit Warwick castle, we were shocked at the £6 parking fee on top of the £22 entry?! Surely parking should be included. To start with we were really disappointed, the horrible histories maze was okay (know it’s more for kids) but could’ve done with more interesting props or pictures in it, the facts however were really interesting! The castle grounds had a fair bit of rubbish scattered around which was sad to see and the grass was all mud from what looks like events that occurred earlier in the year (due to there being less on in winter feel tickets should be cheaper as there’s less of an experience looks like there normally is lots more for children to do). The lower section of the castle was interesting but smelt like urine throughout. We were really really impressed by the great hall and surrounding rooms, beautifully decorated and really interesting information. The food was disappointing. We went to the conservatory as it was raining there was no covered outdoor seating so everyone was hoping for a table inside however it was table service only and the food again was really overpriced with a limited selection. The sandwiches were as standard as a Tesco meal deal yet cost £7 for a sandwich and crisps. Can get cheaper at Costa and it’s much nicer food, the staff were rude and we could hear them muttering to each other about other visitors. However the rest of the castle the staff were all friendly and helpful. If there was some sheltered space outside for families especially with children for picnics that would help. We feel the whole place has been over commercialised a bit taking away the simplicity and beauty of the castle however we would still recommend it to others as a good day out as you were there for a good few hours. Just book tickets in advance as cheaper, and take your own food and drinks!

Thank you florenceh687 for your review.
We are sad to hear that some aspects of your visit did not meet your expectations.
We expect all staff to deliver high levels of customer service at all times, and are disappointed that this was not your experience when visiting us.
We are sorry you found the food disappointing. We review the pricing structure and food quality of our Food and Beverage units to ensure that we are offering a high quality product at a good price, so we are sad to hear of your experience.
As we have a limited space on site, it is a challenge to tackle rainy days, but we appreciate your understanding with this.
Thankyou for your review.

Warwick Castle is a fantastic place steeped in history, but unfortunately there were a few things of concern. In addition to the cost of the tickets, car parking needs to be paid for at £6 per car, and it’s quite a walk from the car park to the entrance to the castle.
Unfortunately, there are no precautions in place to ensure social distancing at all. We had to queue to get in which isn’t a problem, but it was very busy and difficult to keep distancing from one another due to the barriers - perhaps markings on the floor would encourage visitors to take more care? The same goes for the horrible histories maze. We were looking forward to this, but there are no limitations on how many people can enter the maze at once, meaning we had to queue most of the way round and avoid people coming round. So we gave up and came out again which was disappointing. Again, despite being outside, this is a confined space with no social distancing measures in place. I feel a simple solution would be to allocate time slots to parties to limit how many people enter the maze at once.
The jousting performance was good, however, again there were many crowds of people under the canopies - as you can see from the photo attached, it, like many other parts of the venue, are very much a ‘free for all’.
The falconry display is excellent. Upon arrival we had decided that we weren’t bothered either way if we saw it, but we were really pleased we did, and would highly recommend it.
The dungeons didn’t appear to be open unfortunately, so can’t comment on that and there are a few ‘have a go’ stations dotted around which require an additional fee.
All in all, in ‘normal’ times, it would have been an enjoyable day out, but the lack of Covid control dput a dampener on the day.

I'm sorry I don't know, you would have to get in touch with the Castle. I saw no dogs while I was there but I wouldn't think it a good place for dogs as therewhere so many children rushing about.
