Hi Stephen, Thanks for such a super recommendation. On behalf of myself and Renata, thanks for choosing our tour. This time of year is low season, so many tours do actually end up being effectively private tours. Sincerely, Alasdair

We had a wonderful tour with Renata. She showed us things we never would have found on our own, as well as taught us so much! There is so much value in not walking around on your own trying to read your map on your phone!!! Thank you , Renata!

As someone else has written 'ideal for the generalist' - but not if looking for more detail. Whilst our guide from Argentina was very pleasant, outside of her script she was not versed in Oxford’s history or academic/political personalities. To give credit our guide did adapt

Hi Anthony, Thanks for your critical feedback. You made a valid point that although the usual colleges we visit were closed on Dec 26th, your guide really should have already familiarised herself with Balliol too. That's a fair criticism to make and it's unclear to me why she would not already be familiar as the guides are really supposed to be familiar with every college which is a possibility that could be visited outside of the regular itinerary. Apologies about that. You mentioned the tour as being 'a generalist tour' and yes, that's what is intended for this tour viz for it to be a general introduction to Oxford city and university. We actually offer a much wider range of more bespoke tours to choose to. I don't understand why you perceived her to be unfamiliar with Oxford's history or indeed with academic or political personalities at Oxford as I do train the guides to be able to introduce these aspects fluently. It might be that as so few venues are even open on Boxing Day, Laura may have not adjusted so well to having to follow a tour itinerary where she could not follow habitual info introduced at such venues. However, a trained and experienced guide like Laura should be able to accomodate. We do introduce in detail the academic and college traditions and famous personalities associated with each college but we don't really go into much detail about as you say 'academic personalities' as I think very few individuals have such a specific interest in that with exception of likes of eg Stephen Hawking. It is possible that Laura may have deliberately omitted as a proudly EU citizen to mention that Boris Johnson is an alumni of Balliol. If I were a European resident in the UK, I think I might also omit him. Our team of guides are about 20 persons and very few of us are from England. Anyway I apologise if the tour didn't meet your expectation and by the way, you should not have had to pay to enter Balliol- the guides should always be paying for any entry fees, so that is another mistake. I will be sharing your comments now with Laura. Sincerely, Alasdair
