Itinerary
- 1After being picked up from your Hotel by your very own private driver and guide you will be transported to the beautiful Kent countryside (Approximately one hour from London) Chartwell house is the much loved long term home of Sir Winston and Lady Clementine Churchill and their family. The Churchill's lived there from 1924 until 1965. The house went straight from them to the National Trust and is a perfectly preserved time capsule and monument to the Great Man and his much cherished Wife. Everything you see is original, and belonged to him and his family. On arrival we will take a gentle stroll around the grounds and gardens at Chartwell. Here you will see the Churchill's love of water features including the ponds and lakes built by Sir Winston himself. You will see the very view that made Winston fall in love with the estate, leading him to purchase the property without the knowledge of his wife Clementine. Did you know Sir Winston was a bricklayer? Well you will see his handy work in the walled garden and the cottage he built as a play house for his daughter Mary. This is a limited availability tour, and we will be allocated a time slot to enter the house after our garden stroll. Four rooms of the house will be open specially for December to give you the chance to see exactly how the Churchill's spent Christmas. You will be their special guest. The tour also includes entry to Sir Winston Churchill's Art Studio. (Other areas of the house will be closed for restoration and only re-open in March 2020, don't miss your chance to see the house at Christmas) You will have time to enjoy the house at your leisure, and your guide will be pleased to show you items of particular interest. After the house maybe you will want to enjoy shopping for Christmas gifts in the shop, or perhaps have a look at the onsite book shop. Lunch can either be taken at the restaurant on site, or we can drive to the nearby village of Westerham to enjoy the atmosphere of a 500 year old pub. This tour is at your pace, and in no way rushed with your own personal driver and guide.

- fepoole0 contributionsLovely walking tour around Richmond visiting filming locations of Ted LassoBrilliant walking tour with Richard around Richmond seeing a whole lot of filming locations for Ted Lasso. Met Richard in central London & caught the district line out to Richmond (end of the line). We walked all around the village, stopping to talk about different scenes from the series & take photos. It’s a really gorgeous village. Learned a bit about the history of Richmond too & Richmond Green. A very enjoyable walking tour with Richard. Thank you!Written 19 September 2024

- David S0 contributionsRevisiting historyRichard, our tour guide was very cordial and quite informative. - carrollw9550 contributionsRichard is Amazing!Other couple canceled so we got Richard all to ourselves. He was marvelous and with our being fans of Dickens, Shakespeare and London's history, he wove for us our own tour personalizing it to what we were most interested in. Richard is incredible - very smart, great personality and sense of humor. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with him and are still raving about this experience to all our friends 5 months later! We are sending them all his way for their trips this year to London, and we ourselves shall book him again when we return this December! Having been born in London and lived there, then moved to USA I couldn't believe the things I never knew and had never seen -- he is a treasure trove and all his well-known subjects about literature, history, EVERYTHING all overlap and contribute to -- when the end of the tour arrives you literally don't want to say goodbye. What a fabulous experience! Cheers, Richard!Written 14 May 2024
- carrollw9550 contributionsMy husband and I had a fabulous experience with Richard. The other couple canceled so we had him all to ourselves! The other couple canceled so we had Richard all to ourselves. We are avid fans of Dickens and Shakespeare and London History and he weaved it all into a tour that we are still raving about 5 months later! Being born in London and having lived there and then moved to the US I was astonished at the places and things of which I had been unaware. It is true that one could spend a whole year in London and still not see everything, but being on a tour with Richard at the helm is a wonderful start! We enjoyed every minute from meeting him at Temple Station until we said farewell at the house he believes was the inspiration for where Scrooge lived in A Christmas Carol. I cannot rave enough about Richard, his knowledge, his great personality and sense of humor. We are sending all our friends who visit his contact info/website and we will definitely look him up when we are back in town later this year in 2024. Cheers Richard!!Written 14 May 2024
