Overview
Home to some of England’s most beautiful landscapes, the UNESCO World Heritage–listed Lake District is a world of rugged fells, rolling hills, and mirror-like lakes. With on-board commentary from your guide, spin through the English countryside by air-conditioned minivan to explore top attractions including the Castlerigg Stone Circle and Honister Pass on foot. Take a sightseeing cruise and stroll through pretty Ambleside—with round-trip travel included.
What to Expect
After a morning pickup in Ambleside, Bowness-on-Windermere, or Windermere, hop aboard your air-conditioned minivan and head into the UNESCO–listed Lake District. As your guide sheds light on the region’s history and geology, gaze out across the rolling hillsides and rugged valleys.

Traverse the shoreline of Lake Windermere to Ambleside, and enjoy free time to explore the cobbled streets at your leisure. Then, head onward to Rydal Water—stopping to capture the scenery on camera.

Spin through the Borrowdale Valley past pretty villages such as Buttermere and Grasmere, ascend Kirkstone Pass for views over Bassenthwaite Lake, and tackle the rocky slopes of Honister Pass. There are plenty of chances to stretch your legs and explore on foot throughout your tour.

Following free time for lunch in Keswick (own expense), visit the Castlerigg Stone Circle. Exploring with your guide, gain insight into the stones’ ceremonial history—dating back to 3,000 BC.

Take to the water on a scenic sightseeing cruise, and admire panoramic views over the peaks and fells from your vantage point on the waves. Then, return in comfort to your departure point to conclude your tour.
