- Please note that if you are booking the whole theatre for an event we as a theatre will seat all guests and allocate tables as your guests arrive this helps with congestion within the theatre, we understand that some of your guests may not want to sit in the front row but as this is a Magic Show and not stand up comedy not one of your guests will be made to anything they do not wish to do, but we ask that your guests are informed that the show requires audience participation, so by informing your guests that they could be on stage would be of great help to the magicians, also if you have any thing the magicians need to know before the show we would be happy to pass this is on to the magicians to make sure the show is even more special.
- And finally, owing to the proliferation of portable recording devices, it is requested that customers don't make any audio or video recordings of acts or use flash photography during the show.
- If you fail to arrive by the start of the show which is stated above we will seat you during the interval,
- If someone in the group you have organised is drunk at the door they will be refused entry without being refunded. This does not mean the whole group is refused entry but if you decide you don't wish to come in because one of your group has been turned away then that does not mean you are collectively entitled to a refund, if a member of your group is disruptive during the show, we will remove the said person without hesitation and no refunds will be given to anyone if you wish to leave with the disruptive guest, so we ask that you you respect all other guest and artists.

- RichyRooster0 contributionsVery, very entertaining evening in a cozy theatre setting! We had such a great night at Smoke and Mirrors! The comedy and magic performances were fantastic. Whilst we initially didn't want to participate, the fact that it's a small and friendly audience (all giving lots of encouragement!!) meant that I was soon upon the stage! A brilliant night out and great for a bunch of fiends or a date night.Written 5 February 2025
- 491jaynet0 contributionsFun immersive experience! This was such a fun night for us. We really loved the venue and the friendliness all around. We got ourselves some drinks when we arrived and were lucky enough to be greeted by a very good magician, who showed us some really cool card tricks. He left us with a little memento from the experience, which I loved. The show was so entertaining, split into two talented acts and held in an intimate room at the back. I have to admit, I was super nervous after realising that the show would be audience interactive! But getting involved was great fun and I am so glad that we came. Thank you for the laughs, we will be back again!Written 2 February 2025

- Bishopston-bloke0 contributionsReally good fun - and something quite different to doBoth magicians were really good, the venue seats just around 30 people and has loads of character, and watching magic so close yet still having no idea how they've done it is brilliant. A really good fun night out and something different to do.Written 1 February 2025

- tomhK614RO0 contributionsTop night. Top entertainment. Plenty of laughs and astonishment. An excellent night of magic combined with comedy. The house magicians performed so brilliantly that the audience was fully engaged and couldn't wait to be involved when they were asked. Everyone had a great time and will definitely be returning again soon. Can highly recommend this venue if looking for some top entertainment.Written 24 January 2025
- Dreamer365058873870 contributionsGreat eveningHad a fab evening with my wife. Event was well organised and the magic was excellent and very entertaining. Richard Newman was brilliant from start to finish - very funny and had huge energy. Look forward to coming back again soon. Thanks.Written 18 January 2025
- honestHampshire0 contributionsNice venue, food and drink but tickets over priced.Loved the venue small and intermate, drinks and food were good value. Sadly we felt the ticket price of £30 pounds a ticket is way to high and for 2 hours entertainment over priced, so for this reason would not go again which is a shame.Written 18 January 2025
- V8990UZstevenk0 contributionsMagic & Mayhem in BristolIf you find yourself in Bristol then this is definetely worth a visit. Comedy and Magic in an intimate environment. You can be part of the show(if you want to be). Good food, good cocktails, good laughWritten 16 January 2025
- Pathfinder4792990 contributionsDidn't meet expectationsThe magicians' skill was very high, but lots of things let the evening down. We were sat sharing our table with another couple with the seats not easy to turn to face the stage and so we couldn't sit together as a couple, and due to the front row of seats being full and close to the stage, we couldn't see a lot of the show as it was behind people's heads, including the 'grand finale'. There were a lot of crass jokes and it felt like we were 20 years in the past given the style of humour. The sound of the mikes was going in and out so we couldn't clearly hear what was being said for most of the show. Our pizzas were dry, small and a bit flavourless during the interval. Unfortunately, this was a disappointing evening.Written 14 January 2025

First visit to Smoke & Mirrors, we tried the 7pm slot on Thursday 14/11. The house magician was Richard Newman. Arrived nice and early, the format was clearly explained and we elected to eat before the show. The food was just right, nothing too heavy and good value. The bar is welcoming and the drinks reasonably priced. The show itself was terrific, Richard is an accomplished performer, very likeable and full of energy. He was particularly good at involving the audience without making anyone feel pressurised. It's an intimate, theatrical space with a great vibe and he soon had everyone in stitches. The magic was very well done and humerous too. All in all, this has to be hands down the best value night out in central Bristol. You can see why it's No. 1 on Trip Advisor, we're hooked and have already booked for an upcoming comedy night. 5 Stars+

We had the Wowcher offer for 2 x tickets, one pizza, 1 x fries and 2 x Prosecco for £26 and we’re really pleased.
Upon entry, we were asked if we were happy to sit right at the front; we therefore did have a little bit of interaction with the magicians on stage which was nice but they were very good in general at including lots of people from the audience (however, if you’re painfully shy then this may not be for you). The act itself was really funny, if not a bit silly, but a lovely way to spend just over an hour. Our pizza, the mushroom and truffle was really tasty but it is very small, and especially so for two, so if you’re there for dinner then I’d order another pizza and fries!
Overall a nice time at a pretty good price!

It was our first visit to Smoke and Mirrors and we will definitely be coming back. It was an excellent show! Mark was an expert at including members of the audience by asking them questions about themselves and making jokes where appropriate from the responses, but always in a humorous and not unpleasant way. The magic interspersed with comedy was a really great combination and expertly presented. Audience participation was required but Mark made it clear that if you didn’t want to participate you could just say ‘no thank you’ and point to the person you wanted to nominate instead! It was a very small venue which made it even better, as everyone could see what the magician was doing and it had a warm and friendly atmosphere. Jay, the warm up magician in the bar was also very good and got us in the mood for magic while we waited for our food and to be seated in the theatre. We’ve never been anywhere quite like it - it is a little gem right in the heart of Bristol!

Walked through the door, and was amazed by the venue. Welcomed by a member of the bar staff, and found a seat. The house close up magician Seb was moving around the tables performing close up magic right in front of us, what a perfect touch. We were called into a small theatre, with space for around 40 people, Mark Bennett was the Comedy Magician, who welcomed us all. The show was professional, very entertaining and had great interaction with the audience. I would recommend to anyone to go and visit, and I would definitely visit again if I was in the area again. Fabulous evening, great value

Tragic. People walked out and did not return after the break. Not funny childish magic and certainly not work the full cost. The guys mic kept slipping and he was showing cards that no one could see. His jokes included a lot about private parts with also meant cards going in peoples pants… all very gross!
Luckily we got it on Groupon which included pizza which was awful worse than oven pizza.
There is no atmosphere in the bar and over all it all felt awkward.

What a fun week night event! Grew up in Bristol and had never been inside.
The comedy was great, and the magic was even better! Went with friends for birthdays and it was just fun and value for money.
The magician had his work cut out with disruptive audience members but he handled it well and didn't stop the enjoyment. The atmosphere was great. Would recommend.

Yet again outstanding experience , from the moment we entered the premises the staff were brilliant , friendly, professional and they made the experience smooth and pleasurable.
The table magician had us in awe .
The magician for this show was the great and had the audience in stitches with his humour and captivated with his magic skills .
We’ve now been a number of times , taken guests and in lockdown streamed Mark Bennett’s shows .
It just gets better

We purchased the groupon voucher for pizza chips and glass of Prosecco with comedy/magician show. We did not know what to expect but this did not disappoint, from start to finish we were entertained. Mad mark the card magician was in the bar and entertained us with some mind boggling card tricks before and after the show. The show itself (Richard Newman) had us laughing till our cheeks hurt . Lots of audience participation and he was in the bar afterwards for us to say “how the hell”?? His comedy along with the magic was second to none.
The food was spot on too along with a few drinks.
We will definitely be back and highly recommend

The show we saw was with Paul and after an initial scepticism about it potentially being of good quality - we were blown away with the humour and magic. He was a brilliant showman and magician, very funny and certainly provided some surprising magic tricks that left us truly baffled. The venue is small but it is intimate and makes the experience more personal and you feel involved in the show which is more entertaining. We booked onto a 9pm show that had to be moved to a 7pm showing and we were compensated with an extra glass of prosecco for the inconvenience of adjusting our travel arrangements last minute. The pizza was delicious. The only things to mention are - the pizza needs to be ready on time for the interval as it was a bit difficult to cut/eat during the 2nd part of the show. Also, we could have done with a table as it was tricky to juggle glasses and pizza boards to cut pizza without a table - however I think this was due to being moved to the 7pm show last minute as many other guests had tables. Overall I would highly recommend this place as a fun and different evening out. I will definitely be booking to attend again.

Great entertainment, lovely pizza, nice cosy venue.
The magician/comedian had a dry sense of humour.
I smiled the whole night.
Not a Tommy Cooper but well worth the money, I would go again.
Would recommend 100%

Would you say this was suitable for a 12-year old? (Maybe not the Prosecco...)
