About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- nurw20240 contributionsmuslimah solo traveller approvedThe guide’s name was Liz and she did an amazing job to bring us around the hidden alleys and the hype cafes of Auckland. She did the three hour tour at a very very manageable pace and we were given very detailed information about the local food, buildings and what we can look out for. I thoroughly enjoyed the company and the laughter. Liz was very mindful of my halal-dietary needs when we stopped at the cafe and chocolate shop. Awesome experience, will continue to support this female-founded business.Written 13 January 2025
- 797celesteb0 contributionsBest tour of Auckland! We loved our tour with Aucky Walky! Liz is a fantastic guide - she knows everything about Auckland and New Zealand and showed us interesting and out of the way places. We had a baby with us and Liz arranged the tour to be just perfect for our family. I highly recommend using Aucky Walky if you are in Auckland!Written 13 December 2024
- Karen F0 contributionsAuckland City Walking TourWe had a really enjoyable private walking tour on arriving into Auckland. Debbie was our guide and she an absolute delight — informative and engaging. She gave us a good overview of the city as well as restaurant recommendations. Highly recommend Aucky Walky as a way to start off your visit to Auckland.Written 12 March 2024
- S2166QLnancyl0 contributionsAmazing delicious food tour!Such a fantastic food and fam tour of downtown Auckland! We ate at 5 locations and each one had a story and the portions were very generous. Liz was an amazing guide and I appreciated her professionalism. I definitely recommend this tour if you love good local food.Written 24 January 2024
- atl_trav9170 contributionsHighly Recommend Private Tour with LizWe did a private walk with Liz and she was terrific. She was able to answer all of our questions, took us to areas both historical and recent, snd demonstrated a keen appreciation of her country including all of the various groups who make up New Zealand. The day was quiet and Liz paced it well finding areas of shade and an ice cream and cheese stop. A perfect first day activity in AucklandWritten 20 January 2024
- 321mlm0 contributionsAUCKLAND Walking with the LocalsI booked a small group walking tour of Auckland with Liz ,the founder of Aucky Walky, and Debbie, her associate, rather than book a shore excursion with the cruiseline. It was a most enjoyable 3 hour walk (including a break in a 1930's restored hotel). We covered an area from the Port to Auckland Town Hall and we learned a lot about the area and visited spots I would never find on my own. Both Liz and Debbie know the city and directed us to places to eat and shop when the tour ended. I highly recommend this tour. It ranks as one of the best walking tours I have booked in my travelsWritten 17 January 2024
- Riverrun160 contributionsPerfect way to discover and appreciate AucklandPerfect way to discover Auckland at the start of a holiday. Liz and her trainee Nina were so friendly, knowledgeable, interesting and obviously proud of their great city. They showed us around the lesser known areas of the city, places to shop, eat, view art etc. and whilst the whole tour was on foot, it felt very easy and the time flew. I’d highly recommend it - we’ve come away with a better appreciation of the city, its history and now have some great ideas about what to do for the 3 days we are here!Written 16 January 2024
- K9990SGmarthac0 contributionsGreat Guide and Tour!We booked this tour on the day of our arrival after a long flight. The timing of the tour in the afternoon was perfect. We like to find a good walking tour to shake off jet lag and hit the ground running. Liz was a fantastic guide and shared her great knowledge of the city, it's culture and surrounding areas too. The food stops each had a different vibe, had good variety of food and drink and were well planned. Every venue gave us a warm welcome and had reserved seating for our group. Liz also gave us some recommendations for places to check out on our own and even some secret places that would have been hard for us to find or even know about on our own. Book the tour, you'll love it!Written 16 January 2024
- TBay6200 contributionsHighly Recommend Liz & her Auckly Walky Food Tour!We thoroughly enjoyed Liz and her 3 hour Aucky Walky Food Tour. Liz was fun and engaging and provided us with an authentic intro to the Auckland food scene. We very likely would not have experienced the restaurant, pub and local food shops she selected for our tour. She was also very generous in sharing her knowledge on everything Auckland & New Zealand. We also appreciated Liz’ commitment to keeping her tours small making it an intimate experience (our group of 4 plus 3 other travellers). Highly recommend!!Written 13 January 2024
- cindybfortworth0 contributionsBest walking food tour I've ever done!THE BEST!!! Book this tour asap! Liz was a wonderful host & full of great knowledge of Auckland & surrounding areas. The restaurants & food choices were great & wow - plenty of food - so come hungry. Liz leaves you a printed sheet of paper that will give you everything you need to know about Auckland & more. BOOK THIS TOUR! They to get in on your first day in the city as you will be set with plenty of choices for the remainder of your days in the city ...and beyond.Written 8 November 2023
- Emma H0 contributionsAucky Walky 23Fabulous tour, would highly recommend. Is certainly worth the price. The guides give you great local tips and are experts on Auckland. Well designed tour with a few breaks for a coffee and some chocolates too!Written 31 October 2023
- JenniferW9910 contributionsAn Amazing Host and Tour!Thank you to Liz of Aucky Walky for showing me and my USA soccer fan friends a wonderful time! When I was doing some Women’s World Cup trip planning I looked at walking/food tours and Liz was highly rated. This winter is usually off-season for her so I’m glad she opened her arms and the city to football fans. She pre-arranged solutions for food preferences or allergies when I asked in advanced and all the food, was fantastic and local. We learned about the history of NZ, Auckland, and her experience as someone who’s grown up in a city she adores. We had only landed from a very long flight at 5:30AM, so tired, and somehow she kept us going through the afternoon and into the evening with a great tour and friendship.Written 11 August 2023
- Blake27220 contributionsGreat tour and delcious food! Highly recommend.Wonderful tour with Liz. She is knowledgeable and lovely to tour with. She knew our whole group's names immediately, and was willing to answer all of our questions throughout the day no matter their topic. The food - my goodness! Delicious at each stop, and plenty of it. Make sure you come hungry. Great to visit some hidden gems and all independent eateries, and to get a sense of the city at the same time.Written 4 August 2023
- L1144OOchrisa0 contributionsWhat a treat!Such an intimate and enjoyable to take in the city. Highly recommend so that you can learn about the ins and outs of Auckland, as if you were a local! - GrandTour594667949950 contributionsMust Do Tour in AucklandBoth my husband and I truly enjoyed our food tour with Liz while we were in Auckland. Her choices were phenomenal from the first stop to the last with a tasty Hokey Pokey work of art! She provided us with a reference guide to use when searching for places to eat. She also shared all of the New Zealand things we must try….which we managed to check off most of them! She was a joy to hang out with during our tour! Would highly recommend her and Aucky Walky! I would suggest trying to book at the beginning of your Auckland visit because she is a wealth of knowledge!Written 23 April 2023

Joe was fabulous. Her knowledge, enthusiasm, and walking itinerary including off beat sites you will miss on your own makes this tour great with a couple of interesting stops along the way as well as a short bus ride. Exceeded our high expectations. Three hours goes fast.

From the moment we met Joe our guide we were treated like VIPs. We passed many other much larger groups straining to hear their guide while our small group breezes through this eclectic and fast growing city. A leisurely stop for a local coffee in a charming historic hotel and then the coup de grad..... chocolate tasting. Wow. The 3-hour tour went through many hard to find charming side streets and parks. We even rode the bus a few stops to get a taste of the “top” of the city. We elected the lunch option and had delicious fresh tasty fish tacos.

So kind of you to post a review, Joe was delighted. Our small-group focus certainly is the best way to see Auckland on foot - with lunch the icing on the cake! Take care and please stay well in these trying times. Kia aha, wishing you good health from your NZ friends. x

I enjoyed this walking tour with Joe. We had a small group (only 3 of us plus Joe). We covered a lot of Auckland in 3 hours, including a bus ride up to the uptown area known as “K Road”. Closer to the wharf, we saw many boutique shops and stopped in an upscale chocolate shop for a tasting. Joe was very friendly, knowledgeable, and informative. I learned a lot about Auckland and New Zealand re their history and culture. It was totally worthwhile. I highly recommend this walking tour, particularly on the front-end of your stay in Auckland, so you can get a “lay of the land”. The photo ops were great, too!

Thanks so much J - Joe enjoyed showing you round. So glad that it was helpful with kickstarting your Auckland stay and that our small-group focus fitted the bill. You were our last group before Covid-enforced cancellations so hope you're home safely now. All the best and thanks for visiting Aotearoa NZ - the land of the long white cloud.

This was our third trip to Auckland in four years and our first walking trip of the city. We learned so much from Joe, our guide, about the history of the city and the Maori culture that I wish we'd taken this tour when we first visited Auckland. Joe showed us lots of interesting areas that we would never have found ourselves and we really enjoyed our coffee stop in an art deco hotel and the chocolate tasting too. Joes enthusiasm and knowledge really made the tour for us so a big THANK YOU to her and we would thoroughly reommend to anyone wanting to find out more about this amazing city.

Wow, you guys are practically locals! Thanks for returning to Auckland and for supporting our little walks business this time around. It means the world when a review like yours pops up. As you know the city yet appreciate the value a professional guide can add. Thank you - we think our hometown is pretty amazing too.

My partner and I took this tour on our first day in Auckland coming from the US. Janet showed us around the city which really helped us get acquainted. She pointed out cool places to check out, taught us about the history, and shared some chocolates and tea with us. She also mentioned some other places to visit outside of the main city. They give you a paper at the end with recommendations for everything from food to places to visit that is extremely useful!
After our tour, we had the opportunity to meet Liz and talk about her experience starting Aucky Walky Tours. Her passion for creating a great tour experience, from the people she hires to the handpicked stops along the way, really came through when we talked to her.
A walking tour with Aucky Walky is a great way to see the city!

We arrived in Auckland this morning and wanted to get an overview of the city. We booked a private Aucky Walky Tour. Joe was our guide and she was dynamite! She took us all around the city - mostly on foot but also by bus so we could see some other neighborhoods. This was not your typical touristy walking excursion. She took us to lots of hidden gems throughout the city and treated us to a drink and some amazing artisanal chocolates. We pestered her with tons of questions about New Zealand’s history, culture, and modern pastimes. For more than three hours she answered every one of our inquiries thoroughly. She really knows her stuff! We were thrilled with our walking tour and would highly recommend Aucky Walky and Joe to anyone! Thank you Joe!

Today I went on the Aucky Wally tour with some students from my university.
Our tour guide was Liz, and she was very friendly and full of great advice. The coolest thing about this trip is she takes to you places that are “off the beaten trail” and that you would not have otherwise seen. It was a nice change to get off Queens street and check out some other areas.
Some classmates and I went back to some of the places she suggested— sumthin dumpling, and Giapo for ice cream. They indeed, lived up to and surpassed our expectations.
The tour also had a lot of information about New Zealand politics and culture that I didn’t know before. I loved learning about gender equality and the woman’s suffrage movement in NZ.
Liz, you rock!! Thanks for such a great tour :)

A fantastic guide into past and present day Auckland. A truly wonderful tour spent with a passionate and knowledgeable guide who has something for everyone; volcanos, native trees and shrubs, sumptuous chocolate and the city's best shopping streets. If you want to orientate yourself in the city, do this tour!

Thanks so much A, so glad you enjoyed our 'when in Auckland' tour. We aim to cover off all the essential lanes, landmarks and best local food in a morning so visitors don't put a foot wrong (shrubs too ha ha). Our small-group focus ensures every tour is customised as we walk to suit different interests. Safe travels and hope the sun is shining where ever you are now!

My husband I and got of the plane from the States in the morning for our honeymoon and couldn’t check in to our accommodation until the afternoon, so we booked this tour. We thought the walking tour would keep us in our feet, fight off the jet lag, and teach us what the locals love about Auckland. We were correct! The tour was amazing and was everything we wanted and more. Walking a city is the best way to get to know what it’s around. Liz and Joe happened to both be directing the tour and not only did their love for Auckland show through but they were very knowledgeable about any questions we asked. Joe is a natural story teller with charisma and energy to spare. Start any holiday in Auckland with Aucky Walky Tours.

Wonderful tour by Liz. Her love and passion for the city come through in an easy-going and wonderful way. The tour focused on the lesser known areas of Auckland and gave us a lot of ideas of what we could do with our remaining time in this great city. You pay a little more for a small group, but it is definitely worth the premium for a much more personal service. Highly recommended without hesitation!
