- Skylo60 contributionsReal CountryHello I'm Elie and I am 11 years old living in Queenstown. When our camp went to Real Country I didn't know what to expect. How would you feel when you come to a place in the middle of nowhere ? When we got there though I was amazed it was so much fun. There was air rifle shooting and I managed to hit three targets ! We also learnt how to use whips Hammer a nail into wood and how to change a tire . It was very exciting and I enjoyed it. I would like to go there again in the future . I would recommend this to schools if there heading near Invercargill because its just past Kingston and not hard to pass. Thank you for giving your time to readWritten 15 November 2022
- Poguet0 contributionsA fun, hands-on, and learning filled ladies dayLadies Farm Skills Workshop This was a great opportunity for ladies to learn the basic practical skills used on a farm in a relaxed and fun setting. Laura is lovely, really honest and knowledgeable. She taught us how to act around horses, crack stock whips, jump start a very flat battery, shoot an air rifle safely and clay pigeon shoot. Stretch, her partner in crime, taught us how to change a tire efficiently, tie appropriate knots for trailers and use ratchets, fix a broken wire fence and back a trailer! It was great to be around a group of like minded ladies who were all there to improve or learn new outdoor skills which would traditionally have been left to the men! Thanks so much Laura, Holly and Stretch!Written 30 August 2020
- offgridmonkeys0 contributionsArchery, Clay Pigeon Shooting and Hoursemanship all at one spot!Fantastic day out for my husbands birthday. We learnt horsemanship, and also tried our hand at clay pigeon shooting and archery. Laura is lovely, very passionate, knowledgeable and keen to share her knowledge. We would highly recommend a visit! Her menagerie of animals are a real treat too!Written 11 August 2020
- kellymcateer1000 contributionsA true kiwi experienceWe booked a group experience for our Tourism students- FANTASTIC! This experience reminds us all how proud we should be of our small country at the bottom of the world and the amazing people we have living here. Laura is a true delight and inspiration, showcasing the southern spirit and her animals are equal partners in hosting the experience. Would recommend this experience to everyone- I am from a farm and found it really informative and fun. The students loved it, despite the pouring rain. Thanks for having us Laura.Written 28 June 2020
- beccaluccy0 contributionsThe Real Country Southern Girls Finishing schoolI traveled down to Kingston from Napier in the north island to do the southern girls finishing school. I went down as a teen age girl who had absolutely no confidence in myself and wasn't the best with new things. I live on a farm and yes i could do most of the things shown to use in the workshop but i didn't believe in myself and Laura and holly really helped me to start believing in myself and helped me with my confidence heaps. back home in hawks bay i have used so many of my new skills i gained from doing Laura's southern girls finishing school and its been awesome telling people that i actually can do things. At the finishing school i meet some amazing people and learnt so many new things. Laura does so many amazing things and i hope everyone can have that experience. she truly has helped me be the best version of myself. I hope everyone should go check out Laura's awesome Facebook page Real Country.Written 20 April 2020
- cee990 contributionsUnique, fun and friendly experienceI did the Real Country Shooting Experience with my mum in March and we had an amazing, memorable time. Laura and Holly were warm and welcoming and made us feel at ease with what could be an intimidating experience. It was a wet and windy day, but the facilities meant that we were able to shoot while staying warm and dry. We also loved meeting some of the very cute and friendly animals and enjoyed the fantastic views. I would highly recommend Real Country to anyone visiting the area.Written 14 April 2020
- bosamo0 contributionsFantastic Farm Visit & HostWe stopped in unannounced, as was driving past. Laura was super welcoming to us & our children. They could feed the many different kinds of animals, who were super friendly. Even our 10 month olds enjoyed them! We will definitely be back one day soon. Thanks, Laura. :)Written 8 March 2020
- louisat1620 contributionsBeautiful farmCame here as part of a contiki tour. Amazing setting amongst the mountains, we were shown lots of animals such as pigs, sheep, horses, deer, llamas and ponies. We also got to see the dogs hearding the sheep which was cool! A very cute visit would definitely recommend.Written 3 March 2020

- Hannahleigh50 contributionsAmazing wholesome experience!!!I arrived at Real country NZ with a contiki group not knowing what to expect. It was absolutely one of the highlights of my trip in NZ!!! An absolute must visit! We got introduced to all the animals, my favourite being 5 week old deer Topsy!! And we also got background stories of the animals. We were free to run around with them and take as many pictures as we liked! Not only this, but Laura also had fun activities planned for us such as sheep herding which is harder then it seems. Laura also runs workshops to train up young girls in special skills such as fixing tires, shooting guns and working with the animals. I can’t recommend her farm enough!Written 3 February 2020
- EdenWilson2970 contributionsAwesome Experience the group of girls i took down!I took six girls down to do the 'Southern Girls Finishing Course' programme and it was such a amazing day! The girls learnt so many new skills and Laura was really good at reflecting what the girls were doing into real life situations which I found so key for them to take away from this experience! Overall such a awesome experience for the girls to try new things, that they may never have had the chance to before, Definitely looking forward to take another group of girls again soon!Written 29 January 2020
- JessieF19920 contributionsHighlight of my trip!Laura is absolutely amazing! She has/and continues to put her heart and soul into this wonderful farm! hearing that all the animals have been rescued won my heart when visiting and then seeing the connection Laura has with each and everyone of these amazing animals melted my heart! You can see the animals adore her 💗 also a great fix if you are missing your own pets while away! I highly recommend visiting!Written 27 January 2020
- Rukawa47110 contributionsMagnificentLaura is wonderful host, she is have a big heart for the animals. She loves every one of them. The animals are cute, very friendly and my daughter really loves to play with them. Totally recommendedWritten 20 January 2020

- Adam K0 contributionsFun day - should be part of every QT itineraryMy friend and I did clay shooting and the air rifle shooting with Laura and had an excellent experience. Laura was a very good instructor and a very friendly person. We learned about her farm and got to hang out with the animals as well. The drive from Queenstown is very easy and scenic - right along the lake. While we were there, another group came to feed the animals and play with them, and it looked like they were having a great time as well. This was a great escape from the business of QT and the extreme activities, and can be done in the same day as another activity, so you don't have to sacrifice any of your plans to get this experience.Written 10 January 2020

After hearing Laura come and talk to us at Queenstown Resort College, it was so great to get out to the farm to see everything first hand. Learning how to crack a stock whip was one of my favourite activities of the day. Seeing all her animals and how they are very people orientated is true representation of the amazing work that she does. I will be back soon to pop some shots.
