    Mile-End
Stop: 4 hours - Admission included
This 4 hour chocolate tour begins at chocolate factory- a bean-to-bar chocolate maker's production site. Learn about the process of making chocolate and listen to the owner's personal story. See the beans and other parts of the process that take place, all while tasting three chocolates, made mostly with single-origin beans. Afterwards, walk to a small Mexican restaurant through the Mile End neighborhood. Enjoy a light meal with mole tamales, agues frescas and traditional Mexican chocolate as well as an explication of chocolate in Mesoamerica during the Colonial period. Take the opportunity to hear about the owner and chef of the restaurant and peruse her privately imported Mexican products. Then walk through the Mile End with quick stops at a historic site to learn about the origins of the neighborhood. Leave the Mile-End for the Mile-Ex. Arrive at a cocktail and high high end knife shop for a tasting of two cocktails or virgin cocktails. Finish at a bean-to-bar boutique for a chocolate tasting, a cacao drink and a tasting of confections made with single origin chocolate. Taste three very different chocolates with an explanation of how to sample them and a tasting wheel to help with the vocabulary for chocolate tasting. Then contrast with the confections. There will then be time to shop and ask questions.

Learned so much
Aug 2021
Learned to savor and properly appreciate fine chocolate as one would a glass of fine wine. Really enjoyed the tastings as well as all the background information. Each of the stops was equally fascinating and informative. I had no idea Montreal was such a mecca for bean to bar chocolate production.

Melissa is an amazing tour guide. Very accommodating and organized. We had two children with us (energetic boys: 10 and 12 years old) and she was able to engage them and was very patient with their constant questions. Our family of four had a great time. Even my husband (more of a sports fan) found this tour interesting. We also learned about the history of the neighborhood. We felt we were with a friend who was having us visit her friends who happened to be chocolate connoisseurs and producers. Best tour guide ever!

Instructive and fabulously delicious
Jul 2020
This summer, I decided to (re)discover my own city as a way to make the best out of the COVID-19. This chocolate tour made me travel to Perou with a few stops in Mexico, Dominican Republic, Guatemala learning about the art and the reality behind cocoa production and small scale bean to bar chocolate production! A wonder for the senses and very instructive. Daniel from Chocolat Monarque and our guide Melissa were amazing!

Thank you so much Ms. Colombo. :) It was really a privilege to have someone who can appreciate chocolate in the way you do, its origins, agricultural production, botany and local food businesses. You are a top client to have on this as you have so much perspective and appreciation for all that goes into this chcolate and the tour! :) Merci!

oh my god. This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and charming, and we learned so much about chocolate production and tasting. She also helped point us towards other restaurants and bakeries we might enjoy (which we did!) Please go on this tour and support this company. We can't wait to visit again and go on another one!

Had so much fun and learned a ton about chocolate and Montreal!
Feb 2020
This excursion was a blast. It was a really nice mix of places to visit, and so much fun learning about the bean to bar movement in Montreal. We got to sample a lot of different chocolates, and enjoyed visiting a small batch chocolate maker, a chocolate retail shop where we did a taste test, a Mexican restaurant for a delicious lunch, and a cocktail shop for mocktails. Our guide, Melissa, was so much fun as well. As we walked from place to place, she pointed out interesting historical spots in the Mile End as well as some delicious or iconic restaurants or shops. She was a fount of knowledge and made the whole afternoon a delight.

A wonderful exquisite chocolate afternoon
Feb 2020
This trip is an eye, smell and taste opener to the refine world of chocolate. We had the privilege to meet face to face chocolatiers passionate about their work and products. Chocolate tasting is as rich and as diversify as wine tasting as you will experience in this tour. You will also enjoy great food cooked with chocolate. The guide is dynamic and knowledgeable. You will also learn a lot about Montreal and the beauty of the neighbourhood you will walk through. A 5 stars all the way.

A tremendous experience
Nov 2019 • Couples
Our guide Melissa was fabulous. Her knowledge of chocolate and of the city of Montreal was extraordinary. So much history was learned. Melissa took the time to make sure the group understood what is involved in chocolate. She was passionate, energetic and she made sure the group had a great time. Daniel - who was the main narrator on the last part of the tour was also tremendous as well. Well worth the time.

Outstanding!
Oct 2019
Melissa's knowledge of the Montreal food scene is very impressive and her ability to help the tour participants engage is very good! She knew the history of the area and the businesses the tour stopped at and was able to help round out the presentations at various stops. I highly recommend this tour and I can't see any of the other tours offered by Round Table to be any less impressive!

Thank you so much Ward. It was great having you on the tour as you had a keen interest in the agricultural side as well as the impact of certifications, how things are traded, processed as well as the potential for chef and farm collaborations, chef and artisan collaborations etc. This tour is eye-opening for those that have the curiosity and show-up because of their love of delicious top-notch chocolate!

Just ok....
May 2018 • Friends
This tour was just ok. The first stop is a chocolatier and I must say that part is excellent. You get to learn bean to bar how he makes chocolate and he's a super knowledgeable guy. The next stop is a little bizarre. You stop in a shop and have a small crumb of chocolate from the samples the store already has. Next, you'll go to a Mexican restaurant which is also superb. The fourth stop you'll sit in a cafe and taste the same chocolate you tasted in stop two (only this time you get a square and not a crumb). I skipped the last stop because I was sick and had already been there. The tour dragged on and on and the guide didn't provide the food expertise I'd expect. Overall, it is not worth $100. This is massively overpriced. I've been on several food tours in Montreal the value was double and the price half of this. Even though there are parts that are awesome, I'd skip it because it just isn't worth the money.

Ultimate Chocolate Tour was the Ultimate Experience!
Oct 2017 • Solo
This was an outstanding tour I would recommend to anyone. I booked this based on the other reviews and I was not disappointed. The tour was well-paced with the right amount of stops; each one was different, which together spanned the gamut of chocolate and an overall informative, tasty, satisfying, well-rounded experience. The two hosts (Melissa and Mario) were outstanding - fun, VERY knowledgeable about chocolate and food, as well as the neighborhood, and they were both more than happy to share their knowledge and answer any and all questions we had. If I am in Montreal again, I will definitely book another tour with these folks!
