Had a great walk in Larch Valley during peak larch season - so beautiful and it’s helpful to have a group to hike with when traveling solo. Andrew is an awesome guide, very friendly and knowledgeable; I learned a lot about the park, the trail, and the plants and animals of Banff. Even though it rained the whole time, Andrew kept our spirits up and provided optional ponchos too. Booking online was easy and the provided lunch was tasty and complied with my requested dietary customizations. The van was very clean and pick-up / drop-off were punctual.

Our original hike was changed due to snow on the trail. Instead we hiked to the Yamnuska shoulder.
Anicka, our excellent guide, displayed experience, patience, a wealth of knowledge about the flora and fauna and a great sense of humor.
She turned our 1600 foot elevation gain into a breeze!
Highly recommend her and the company.

Hi Ivan, Firstly thank you for your understanding with the schedule change for our early season hike. We're so glad you enjoyed the hike with Anick (we think she's pretty great too!) and hope to see you back in Banff again.

The hike difficulty stated as moderate, I think it should be difficult, maybe I am not fit enough for it, but the pace was a little too fast at least for me. What's make it difficult is the immediate elevation from the start. Other than that, everything else was good, and I do recommend it!

Hi I'm sorry you are going to miss your tour in a couple of days, we really don't want to disappoint anyone. We made an honest error in our system set up which allowed to tour to be overbooked. If we had an extra hiking guide to take more guests, including yourself, we would have. We explained this to you over the phone, did our best to give you options for alternative days, alternative tours or a full refund, which you decided on. What frustrates me is, we were straight up with you, yet you proceeded to call my employees liars over the phone, and online. That is not very kind, nor productive. Hope you are able to enjoy your time in Banff despite not being able to join our tour. And again, we are sorry to disappoint you.

I did the Larch Valley hike with Jeff. This is a beautiful area and we visited just as the larch trees were changing colour. Our group was well looked after by Jeff and his assistant. He was knowledgeable and funny. Made sure he set a pace that was comfortable for all. We were provided with a large lunch and drinks. Jeff made sure were were well outfitted and carried an extensive first aid kit - even toilet paper and baggies so litter would not be left behind! I highly recommend Discover Banff tours and Jeff!

For those who like to walk but a little afraid of doing it alone choose this option . We had a great guide Gina who was very informative and passionate about The Rockies . We went at a good steady pace and she pointed out lots of interesting things , was also good at taking photos ! Lunch was satisfying sat on a log enjoying the views . The walk was moderate just make sure you wear layers ..

Hi Chris, Thank you for joining us on the guided hike to Stanley Glacier with Gina. You're right, anyone can do these hikes on their own but it can be nice to go in a small-group and also learn about the area on the way! We're glad you enjoyed the hike and hope to see you back again soon.

I wasn't really sure if the hike would take place at all, the day was already quite wet and drab, and there had been a forecast of thunderstorms. But our guide Kelsey put our minds at ease when she picked us up, saying that we'd turn back well within the tree cover if the weather turned for the worse. She also came prepared, of course, and had warm hats and gloves abd also rain capes for everyone. The hike was pretty spectacular despite the weather, we made it to our destination and even had some sun on the way back. Kelsey set a pace that fit everyone in our group and really made this day a lot of fun. I did a hike she'd recommended the next day and found the pikas she'd promised. :-D all in all, an absolutely wonderful experience.

My last visit in Banff was decades ago with my grandmother, and I decided to spend my birthday on a hiking trip guided by Discover Banff Tours. I was so happy I did.
There were some reviews that their communication was not great, but it was not the case for me. I received an email from Emily about trail change (due to bear siting, later learned) a few days before my trip. There was a mention of snow/slippery trail condition in the email, so I was able to pack extra stuff. Because of the rainy weather forecast, I was debating to reschedule my hike from Sat to Sun. I called customer service, but Danielle was very helpful and took the time to check the weather forecast & trail condition for me. She also sent me a follow up email too.

Our group was 14-15 people including tour guide, and it was very fun group. Our tour guides, Matt, Aneck & Aaron were all very different personalities but kept us safe, informed & entertained. Pace of the hiking was not extremely tough but for this uphill trail, you may want to be prepared mentally. All guides were very attentive & quick to take a break when needed. For the clothing, it was mid-June, but I was glad I packed my gloves & knit hat. I wore a fast-dry short-sleeve tee, light weight fleece and rain jacket. I did sweat a lot, but resting time cooled me down quickly with mountain breeze. We had some snow left on the trails too. There are so many trails you can go yourself, but I was not familiar with them and thinking of safety & information they shared with us about the area, plants and wildlife, I made a right decision to go with guided hike!

I cannot ask for a better way to spend my birthday. Thank you so much Discover Banff Tour for such priceless memories. I would love to come back for Larch Valley hike that was originally scheduled for that day. But again, I had one of my best birthdays with you guys. Thank you!

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to share how much you enjoyed the early season guided hike to the Lake Agnes Teahouse with Matt, Anick and Aaron. And what great photos! You're right, we were originally going to hike at Lake Minnewanka but this was amended to the Lake Agnes trail due to bear activity. Early season hikes can be a little unpredictable as we wait for the snow to melt so we appreciate your flexibility and we're so glad you had a wonderful birthday. We hope to see you back in Banff again soon.

This is a wonderful expedition that starts at Moraine Lake and peaks at the Lake at Larch Valley 1,500' up for a picnic lunch, which is provided. It's about a 5 mile hike and the entire up-and-back hiking time is about 5 hours - plus lunch and many stops for rest and photos along the way. We had a group of about 12 and hikers ranged from about 18 to 70. Our guide was INCREDIBLE - Thibault DSM. He was very knowledgeable, charming and attentive to the varying pace of the people in our group. We never felt hurried and the scenery was breathtaking. My wife and I took the hike, along with our 18- and 20-year-olds and everyone unanimously said this was the highlight of our vacation. I would not call it a strenuous hike, but you have to be prepared for 5 hours of walking, and uphill/downhlll most of the time. If you take this hike, I hope you get the pleasure of being hosted by Thibault - we give him five stars!!!

Hi Gary, Thanks for sharing your experience on our guided hike to Larch Valley with Thibault - your review has us dreaming of summer as it snows outside! Larch Valley is one of our most popular summer hikes, and we're so glad you got the chance to see why. If you get the chance to do it again, it's even more spectacular (if you can believe that) around mid-late September when the larch trees turn a bright golden colour. We're very proud of our guiding team and appreciate your kind words about Thibault, which we'll be sure to pass on to him. We hope to see you back in Banff again soon.

We did this hike to the Larch Valley with our guide Sam at the end of the late September snowfall. We had a full group of 12, with ages ranging from 20s to 60s. As one of the oldest with very average fitness, I was a bit breathless at times, but was fine once we got to the top of the switchbacks. The golden larches in the Larch Valley and views of the mountains and Moraine Lake were absolutely stunning, even though we couldn’t see the tops of the mountains with low cloud. The packed lunch was delicious and generous. Wished we’d taken up Sam’s offer of cleats for our boots and walking poles though, as coming back down the trail was icy and slow-going, with the snow packed down by many feet and rather slippery. However, Sam very kindly rushed down and back up again with cleats and poles, which was very much appreciated. A memorable and highly recommended day in the Rockies.
