About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- N2427OMma0 contributionsOne of the best dive shops I have been diving with in the world at dive sites that you must experience yourself!I dived two days with The Cenote Guy (Max) (Dos Ojos - Barbie Line & - Bat Cave; Angelita; Carwash) It starts with the most professional planning I have ever experienced in a dive shop. You are greeted by a very dedicated and friendly instructor whose endless passion for "out-of-the-sea-diving" in caves and caverns is simply infectious. He shared a lot of experience and I learned a lot apart from all the a.m.a.z.i.n.g impressions down there made by nature. There is a very secure and reliable safety check - everything is checked down to the smallest detail and there is also a lot of emphasis on taking care of the cenotes (which should be always the case in diving - but i have experienced different things over the past years). The place and time of each dive are carefully chosen so that you can enjoy this unique experience even in high season with as few other groups in contact with each other as possible. The dives themselves - indescribable. I'm glad I got The Cenote Guy recommended and they showed me these truly magical places with the highest level of safety and confidence. Can recommend anyone to come here. I have already planned more dives in the cenotes - but not with The Cenote Guy as unfortunately (!) they don't offer 'normal' courses ;) But I will definitely go diving with The Cenote Guy again! Thanks!Written 1 December 2024
- dannytF8629VA0 contributionsHighly recommend!!An amazing experience. My guide Max was brilliant, the equipment was in perfect condition and he made sure everyone was comfortable and ready for the dive. I visited cenote car wash and cenote angelita. One of the most impressive and beautiful dives I’ve ever done. I highly reccomend!Written 1 December 2024
- billye6940 contributionsCenote diving is cool!My son and I went on our first Cenote dive and it was great! Alama really took care of us. Very friendly, very knowledgeable about the area and very accommodating. We stayed at the Hotel Xcarte Arte and they couldn’t pick us up there, but we just caught taxi to the bus stop. Honestly was a little nervous about that but there was no issue. Apparently the taxi cabs are very protective and the dive shops aren’t allowed to come on property. No big deal just caught the cab and got a number to call when they dropped us off. The cenote are beautiful and well worth the little bit of effort!Written 30 November 2024
- ashtonf1990 contributionsAWESOME experience for any experienced diver!Alma was a wonderful guide and a fantastic dive master. The entire experience from start to finish was wonderful. We truly enjoyed our dive and Alma made sure we know everything there was to know about the Cenotes and was very thorough when it came to safety! Definitely one of the best dive masters I’ve had the pleasure of diving with. Thank you Alma!!Written 30 November 2024
- Kimberley L0 contributionsFantastic experience diving cenotes!Alma was a fantastic divemaster! She gave us all the information, supervision, and advice necessary to have a safe diving experience in Dos Ojos and the Pit - our first dives in the cenotes. And at the same time she made sure we had a lot of fun and great conversation! She was sensitive to our individual needs (bad knee!) and had great lunch and snacks available. We never felt rushed. It was a perfect day. Thank you for a memorable experience. Nos vemos pronto!Written 30 November 2024
- W7364PHryanl0 contributionsStunning CenotesThe diving in the cenotes was absolutely incredible! As someone who has never done any cave diving, our guide, Max, did a great job explaining the dive, safety precautions, and all the technical aspects. It was very fun and my partner, who is a recently certified diver, felt comfortable the entire time and really enjoyed it. The environment is incredibly unique. Diving in the middle of the jungle is super cool, and I’ll never forget the color of the water. Amazing dive!Written 29 November 2024

- Traveler186930302160 contributionsCan’t recommend it enoughReally incredible diving, like nothing I’ve done before. We had the pleasure doing two days of diving with The Cenote Guy, and got to dive both Alex and Aydin. Both of them were excellent guides who were very knowledgeable and thorough with their explanations. The transportation to and from sites was nice, the food was good, and the booking process was very smooth. They were very communicative over whatsapp, even responding to messages late at night which was really nice. Very reasonable pricing too. Overall a great experience, we’re already hoping to come back.Written 15 November 2024

- sebastianrW3590LE0 contributionsGreat Cenote diving experience! Amazing briefings, snacks, fun, and first and foremost: AMAZING dives!!Ana was the best! I did 4 cenote dives with her, had an amazing time, it was my first cavern dives ever but due to her experience and thorough safety briefings/measures I felt safe throughout all the dives! She really made the most out of every cenote, taking time when surfacing during dives in airpockets or similar, explaining a lot about the origins and structure of all the cenotes, showing us all the details there were to explore - you could really tell she is super passionate about diving in general and the cenotes in particular! Also the communication with Mel via WhatsApp in beforehand was super comfortable and reliable! Highly recommend!!Written 7 November 2024

Wow, the cenotes really are a must if you’re a diver visiting anywhere in the Mayan Riviera/Quintana Roo region. Such a beautiful, incredibly unique experience. I’ll never forget it, nor do I expect I’ll find anything like it anywhere else in the world. The Cenote Guy was a great way to see some of the cenotes (I went to the super eerie and otherworldly Angelita cenote, and the super clear, beautiful Carwash cenote, at their recommendation). Our guide Paco was super friendly, professional, prepared, and even with the more challenging conditions at Angelita, I felt very safe and well briefed with him. He picked up our group in Playa del Carmen, drove us all the way past Tulum (more than an hour) to the farthest cenote, guided us around, brought us to the second cenote, guided us again, and finally fed us a delicious fresh taco lunch before taking us back to Playa. Will definitely book with The Cenote Guy again.

We signed up for the tour a day before the trip and we were pleased that they had availability and were attentive and responsive. Paco was our guide and he was the best! Picked us up on time at the designated location, was super knowledgeable about the Cenotes and their history. As two beginner divers, we felt safe and comfortable with Paco leading us, checking our gear, and making sure we were ok in the water.
What we saw in the Cenotes was not to be believed - huge stalactites perfectly preserved and rays of light through stunning bright blue water. This is not a dive you do to see wildlife, but we were excited to be joined by a little freshwater turtle. It was not too difficult for us at our level and required no previous cave or cavern diving experience. It was a highly unusual dive compared to our ocean dives and is not to be missed! The Cenote Guy was fantastic and the dive was great. Don't hesitate.

Diving with Cenote Guy was incredible! Our guide Max was great - he had a lot of knowledge about the location, had great care for preserving the conditions of the jungle and cenote and was very patient with the orientation and during the dive. Booking was extremely easy and responsible via Whatsapp as well as Facebook Messenger on the morning of pick up. Snacks and water were provided and even a lunch of tacos! The dive at Dos Ojos cenote was amazing and a great recommendation. I highly recommend booking your cenote dive with The Cenote Guy!

Pretty sure I have already written a review because this is my SECOND time diving with the cenote guy, but I have to do another! Had an unbelievably wonderful time on our dives yesterday and today, and I didn’t think it was possible to beat my first experience! Sebastian was such a sweetheart and of course Aydin as well, their passion for these beautiful places is so infectious and helps to make you even more excited to get underwater! Their safety briefings are wonderful, along with sharing backstory and information with the history of the cenotes and they are so good at helping you feel comfortable and explaining what to expect since doing these dives is unlike anything else, which can be a little freaky if you aren’t mentally prepared. They also are so familiar with each location that they point out what to look for and make sure you get the absolute fullest experience that you can, they are so good at keeping the excitement up throughout the whole dive which is so so special. I can’t say enough good things! I will absolutely be back, and wouldn’t want to dive with any other group. Thanks for taking care of me and my mom who probably needed a bit more practice before doing these dives😅 but they were so gracious and didn’t act annoyed one bit, just wanted her to have a good time. They truly made our trip, and it was the reason we came back to Mexico so we are very very grateful and happy!

This is an experience for those who have a diving license and are in Mexico, (one star is enough🌟) must not be missed!!
We were with a charming and the most caring guide we've ever met named Sebastian, who explained to us in great detail throughout the day - about the history of the Sonnets, about all the (crazy!) geological phenomena that happen there, what to expect on the route... all with real patience and enthusiasm that just brings a smile and excitement
The diving ratio is 1:4 so we all felt really safe.
I was shocked by what I saw there:
A cool separation layer between the fresh and salt water, eddies that are created as a result, streams of hot water from the ground while diving, stalactites and stalagmites in the middle of the cave, minerals that make the water look marker green, a whole area with air in the middle of the sonata, fossils of animals and corals (inside a cave 😨) refraction of light rays tens of meters under water - and this does not describe the feeling I had when I saw it in reality,
I was shocked it felt like a different world👽
The cost for everything on the specific Sonata we were on was $130 including travel, entrance to the site, equipment, 2 oxygen cylinders and a really great lunch after the dives
The whole experience was worth every dollar 🙌🏻
If I had more time, I would go to more Sonatas - there are lots and lots that are open to diving, you are welcome to talk to them and consult, the whole staff there is lovely.

The Cenotes around Playa Del Carmen and Tulum are some of the best fresh water diving experiences in the world. An array of colors and visual sights to arouse the senses. Lots of dive outfits go there and it’s easy enough to dive, if you stay out of the caves but Cenote Guys makes the experience more worth the while. Knowledgeable guides, mostly tech divers from what I could discern guide you through a maze of stalactites, stalagmites and some of the most beautiful colors and light hues you will ever see. I did 6 cenote dives and without question would do another 6 or ever more if I were to return. A word to the wise it is so addictive and so much fun that likely eventually it would be tempting to get certified to go into the caves. If you are going Cenote diving I suggest Cenote guy for these reasons. Seamless and convenient booking, clear and concise instructions, affordable and guides that are way beyond open water training in terms of skill and ability. Josie was my guide and I would give him five stars for great experience that was safe and highly enjoyable. One other tip. You have to pay a free at the entrance of the Cenotes, make sure to bring pesos as you will otherwise get hosed with exchange rate fees. If you are going to go Cenote diving I am certain you will be 100% please with Cenote guy.

I booked a last-minute tour at Cenote Chac-Mool (Kulkatan, Little Brother). Everything was great: booking via WhatsApp was super smooth, and everything was seamless the day of. We met up with our guide Paulo at a tank station in PDC and started the trip. It was my first time diving in a cenote after recently getting my Open Water cert, so I was definitely a bit nervous. Not only were they able to accommodate my request (offering me a larger capacity tank), but also Paulo was very patient with me and the rest of the group.
I would 100% recommend this dive shop if you want a great cenote diving experience in the Riviera Maya area.

Diving in the cenotes is an unforgettable experience that I highly recommend. The Cenote Guy were great, very communicative with clear instructions about the meeting point. Our instructor Jonathan was very knowledgeable and patient. He walked us through what to expect in the caverns and the caverns themselves are AMAZING. We had a lovely lunch with the group afterwards before returning to the ferry (as we came from Cozumel). A thoroughly enjoyable experience!

In the top 5 of holiday experiences of a lifetime!
Cannot recommend these guys enough. Met our guide Jonathan on time at Pro Dive. Firstly helped me out with getting cash out at the bank (after a bad taxi issue).
Great and informative briefing at the Cenote put me straight at ease. Easy first dive in the cavern, easy entry and navigation - Jonathan pointed things out to our group.
Second dive at Little Brother was truly spectacular and other worldly, full of stunning stalactites and surfacing into a low cavern space filled with tree roots and maximally quite with shafts of light which Jonathan explained to us. The cloud was also beautiful to see and hard to describe.
Photography not allowed to protect the site, but on site photographer was brilliant and came away with some awesome pictures and videos for $60. Well worth it! Good shower and changing facilities at site and lunch was tasty.
Jonathan made sure I found a taxi back to Cancun after the dives, which as a single female travelling solo was appreciated.
Thanks CenoteGuy - I will definitely back and recommending you to friends! 🙏🏻🇲🇽👍💯🤗

I recommend diving with the cenote guy for many reasons. The price is very competitive and the booking process is so straightforward, the WhatsApp chat booking support makes the difference. The guide is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his job. The brief is not limited to the day's dive so you'll learn about the nature of the cenotes so it makes the experience even much more fun.
I wish I had more time to try other diving trips.
