Carlos was an excellent guide, telling us all about marine animals & birds. He was kind enough to lend us his underwater camera so we could capture some pictures. That was unexpected! We had a separate local guide (required) for the turtle swim, Salma. She was very helpful and we were able to see many turtles, other fish species, and a golden ray. The Tour guide Carlos was very attentive to our needs and he was very knowledgeable. The Hotels in Valladolid and Chetumal were of lower quality than expected.The itinerary was very good. The sightseeing and views were excellent in spite of rainy weather.

Getting up early for this tour was totally worth it! We went to different places to get to see different species and a big variety of birds. And it fully payed off :) We also saw some spider monkeys in the early morning and I especially enjoyed the tranquility and peacefulness of that morning walks through green nature Our guide Carlos never got tired to explain all types of birds to us and always showed us the ones our eyes didn't catch. He also took great photos of the birds and sent them to me later, many thanks for that on top! Carlos showed a very professional knowledge of the birds and their natural habitat, he also could imitate their voices amazingly. Would do the tour again and can just highly recommend it!

Just fantastic! I have been birding for nearly 50 years. I have been from coast to coast in the US. This certainly was one of the best single days of birding for me. 35 life birds! Two different Tucans, Owls, Warblers, oh then there were the monkeys!

I went on this tour at the end of the whale shark season knowing I might not see any whale sharks. The guide said they saw 2 the day before but I'd heard from others that none had been seen for a few days and they weren't running the trips, so I was skeptical whether this was a lie just to get our money. Regardless, Carlos was great, and the whole crew really tried to find us some cool things to see. We were lucky to come across a massive devil ray which they approached with care and caution and were sure to respect the wildlife. This definitely made up for the amount I spent on the trip without seeing a whale shark. No catering for vegans after giving notice the day before, sadly. Luckily I had my own lunch. Overall a very good experience.

Our tour guides Javier and Joseph were great! They let every person on the boat swim with the whale shark twice. The experience was amazing HOWEVER the price for pictures and video were outrageous! One picture was close to $100 US dollars. We did not get any pictures because of this but will always treasure the memories.

We had a morning tour with Carlos and had an amazing time, he was really knowledgeable and knew what birds were around just by their song. My son and I don't do much birdwatching but my father is an avid birdwatcher and has travelled extensively around the world birding and was also really impressed with his knowledge and skills. This experience was incredible! Carlos was our guide and he was so amazing and supportive in the water. My friend and I had so much fun and we had plenty of time with the whale sharks. We also were able to get really cool pictures and videos after the tour was done. Can’t recommend this excursion enough!

Swimming with whale sharks was absolutely amazing, and our guide Carlos made it even better! He knew so much about these gentle giants and shared tons of cool facts with us. Plus, he made sure we were all safe and comfortable with a great briefing before we got in the water. Once we were in, Carlos showed us the best spots to see the whale sharks up close. His excitement was contagious, and he made the whole experience so much fun. He also really cared about the environment and taught us the importance of respecting the marine life. The tour was an exceptional experience since we were able to spot lots of beautiful birds, leguans and even crocodile ! Our tour guide Carlos was very knowledgeable about the species and its natural habitat. It was a memorable experience!

The experience of swimming with the sharks was amazing, such a beautiful animal. The tour went smoothly from beginning to ending, but there are a few points I'd like to adress: 1 - They didn't have pills for nausea available for the boat ride, in other trips the crew used to have it available. 2 - No photographer. Cindy, our guide, had a camera and took many pictures of us, but when we asked if we could get them, and of course we'd have paid, she was very rude with my wife. 3 - Still about Cindy, she was impatient and a little kinda mocking with the people that asked questions about the tour. The crew of the boat was very attentive and nice and the lunch they prepared was delicious.

Carlos led a 3 day birding trip for me and my wife through Contoy Excursions. Highly recommended! After pickup in Cancun we birded Ruta de los Cenotes, then stayed in Valladolid for two nights, hitting Las Coloradas one day and Coba the next. Carlos is an interesting and laid back guy, very fun to spend time with. He's an excellent guide both for birds and the region generally. Before and throughout the trip he consulted us to see if we wanted to make diversions to see particular Cenotes, archeological sites, and birding hot spots. He offered to fully customize the itinerary, but the one he set up sounded perfect so I mainly went with that. Good decision. Carlos is a skilled birder. He knew where to find particular birds we wanted to see, and structured the trip so we'd see the maximum number of species and micro-environments. I ended up seeing 87 lifers in just those three days! My wife and I are both experienced birders from the eastern US, but had never birded in a tropical setting... it was overwhelming and wonderful. Too many highlights to name but we loved seeing Toucans, Aracaris, King Vulture, Flamingos, Red-Legged Honeycreeper, multiple Trogon, Parrot, Woodcreeper and Euphonia species, Turquoise-Browed Motmot, every possible Oriole species (minus migrants), lots of Yucatan endemics like Oceolated Turkey, Yucatan woodpecker, Yellow-lored Parrot, Mexican Sheartail, Yucatan Wren... the list goes on and on. Equally amazing: seeing a troop of 50+ spider monkeys (with babies in tow), hearing a large cat's shriek (Jaguarundi?), seeing a rare yucatan deer, and seeing plants like orchids and achiote in the wild. Beyond just the birding Carlos created a great experience for our first Yucatan peninsula visit. Valladolid is a great place to stay and explore on foot in the evenings. The hotel he picked was quite nice. The restaurants he took us too were always good, and he helped us try local foods. He's a local who speaks Mayan and told us about the region's history and culture. We saw (and swam in) two different Cenotes, and birding Coba was great as there were ruins and birds. Overall the tour was a wonderful experience and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Our trip to Mexico started off well with our first morning spent birding with Carlos. My fiancée and I love birdwatching and were so excited for this tour. We saw 64 species thanks to Carlos! Without him, we really wouldn’t have seen more than the grackles, Eurasian collared doves and pelicans in and around the city. Carlos was awesome. He is attentive easy going, and we really enjoyed him sharing his historical knowledge with us. We would definitely book again if we returned to Cancun :)
