- Culture268439689430 contributionsGreat Trip!Well organised trip, our hotel was not listed but Sat mexico tours were extremely good at communicating and keeping us up to date on the location for the pick up, even the morning off i messaged and they replied straight away. Our tour guide Mirim was lovely, passionate and had lots of knowledge, and our driver Julian was punctual and friendly too. We were lucky to have great weather for the chicen itzá walk, it can be extremely busy and at times we’re unable to hear Mirim,so those hard of hearing make sure you stay close to your guide and not right at the back of the group. We had free time to go around chicen itza for pictures etc before moving on to lunch. lunch was okay not much vegetarian options but it was traditional mexican food so there was more options for non vegetarian eaters. Take lots of water as only one bottle per person in provided. Cenote was very pretty and we did a little tequila tasting along the way too. The tour is structured to have the perfect mix of local culture, history, and fun. Our team was outstanding - Rey and Norma were extremely knowledgeable and friendly throughout the trip, we learned so much from them. Can’t leave out Danilo our driver who was also excellent. - Rachel111520 contributionsA good day trip to the ruinsA good day out with lovely guides and a good driver. Moto Moto and Paul were my guides. The bus transportation is very comfy and clean. Enjoyed the ruins and would have loved a little bit more time there. You can hire umbrellas there if you want extra shade for 60 pesos. The cenote was ok, the life jackets are mandatory and so you have no choice but to pay for them when you get there. There is fish in there so if you are afraid of fish biting you be ready! The buffet was at the cenote and was very average and food mostly cold. The stop in Valladolid was nice to finish with the craft tequila tasting. Overall a good day out and good value for the transportation, guides, cenote entrance, buffet and Valladolid stop.Written 12 October 2024

The only thing good about this tour was the crew on the Catamaran and the snorkeling. I’d recommend anyone wanting to do this type of tour to find another option. First off, I purchased round trip transportation from our hotel. I never received a confirmed pickup time 2 days before, which I was told I would so I had to contact the tour company for a time. They didn’t get back to me until 10:30pm the night before with a pickup time. Well then they never picked us up! I had to chat with the tour company on WhatsApp to pay for a taxi to the marina so we wouldn’t miss the trip. The whole paying $20 a person for a docking fee should be included in the “all inclusive” price. The “beach club” they take you to looks like it’s been knocked around by several hurricanes. There is nothing to do besides eat and wait for the Catamaran to take you to Isla Mujeres. I would suggest they find a different beach club to dock at. Food was average. And Isla Mujeres is a DUMP. I recommend renting a golf cart to just drive around and pass time unless you want to walk through a thousand shops selling the same cheap stuff. Lots learned on this excursion!

I wouldn’t recommend this experience, the snorkelling was poor, I got lost in another group and then chastised by the guide for not keeping with our group when everyone is snorkelling in the same patch of water with 5 other groups , he then took us to jewellery/gift shop for a wristband and heavy sales pitch whereby they changed how they sold their items from dollars to pesos and completely got us confused, being taken to jewellery stores after dropping off anywhere even by taxi, I can only assume they are on commission. The beach is small and you can only go in the water up to 20m in, it’s crowded and they charge 350 pesos for a lounger for 1 hour! Then you are accosted by beach sellers the whole time.

Our March 2 trip was cancelled because the dock was closed due to high winds. This is not the fault of the operator. However, a lack of communication about how to get our promised refunds was frustrating then and now. We were driven to the boat, after the bus arrived 30 minutes late, and it was explained the dock was closed. We were promised a refund for the docking fee ($55US) and the cancelled tour. We have received nothing back and so far two emails have been met with silence. After we were told the excursion would not go ahead, we were herded back on the bus, where we sat for about 20 minutes, before we were driven back to our pick up spot. Some communication about where to catch a ferry to Isla Mujeres would have been helpful but there was nothing. Very disappointed and would not use this operator again.

While overall this tour was good, I was a bit disappointed in the communication we received from our guide during our experience. Additionally part of the reason why I booked this tour was because it stated we would get one hour at Playa Norte and 3 hours of free time on Isla Mujeres, however this was not our experience.
Instead of what was listed on the itinerary, our guide dropped us off at a restaurant where we were told we could either eat there with the group or go explore the town. We were told we had to return back to the boat in an hour and they would then drop us off at the beach. After that hour passed, we were told that because the group that ate at the restaurant were not done with their meal, we would not be dropped off at the second location and instead we would have just one more hour to explore the island.
My boyfriend and I really wanted to rent a golf cart to explore Punta Sur. Because we were under the impression we would have at least 2 more hours of free time after we were dropped off at the second location, we chose to wait to rent one and tried to waste time after eating independently walking around some shops. After being told we would only have one more hour on the island, we rushed to find someplace that would rent one to us for that limited amount of time, and only had time to take one picture at Punta Sur and head back immediately. It would have been better if our guide just told us we would have 2 hours to explore so we could have taken our time at Punta Sur instead of rushing and trying to waste time during our first hour.

SAT Tours communication was very poor this time. First, the driver picked us up at the wrong meeting place. He was waiting at the lobby while we were at the tour meet up point of the hotel. Good thing the hotel staff looked for us. Otherwise, he probably would have left us. The girls in our group were left behind by the driver, but the girls said they waited and were not late. They took a taxi to get to the marina and joined our group. The driver dropped us off at the marina to meet with the guide.
Second, Aleman. He’s a substitute. He came on his day off. And he supposedly came to “collect the money” to pay for the catamaran ticket (which is part of the instructions). But when I asked Aleman the details of pick up, who’s our guide and return instructions, he didn't know the answer. He asked if we received an itinerary to the day’s tour and we told him no.
I reached out to SAT Tours via whatsapp. I messaged them and called multiple times but no one answered my inquiries and calls. But of course, my messages were read. No clarifications were given until when we were about to board, I received a message saying, “Aleman will be our guide”. At the same time, Aleman informed us that he is coming with us. Aleman is very kind. We appreciate him coming on his day off so he can assist us.
Third, the activities and the crew in the catamaran, Malube. The captain kept us safe to and fro the island. George and the other crew kept us entertained, made sure we were safe in the catamaran, while snorkeling and free swimming, by providing us with clear instructions in English and Spanish.

I booked this trip with transportation, did not get any at the end of the trip. The staff on the boat was super nice, made us feel great and safe. Great job guys. The island is not as interesting, basically you will see only souvenir shops. The ocean and snorkeling was great. Company Sat Mexico we’re not very accommodating when I called and asked where is the van/ bus to pick us up, they told me that they waited and left, don’t they plan the trip and know that passengers didn’t arrive yet. They hang up on me. Wanted to leave a nice review but had to say it. Plus, when we arrived at the kiosk they didn’t have our reservation and additional dock fee that you don’t know about before you really book it. Hidden fees, every dock charges it in Cancun.

This a "Bush League" and shoddy operation. The waiting area at the Port is seedy. People are hanging around selling items and bothering the patrons. Not much seating there and hot. The boat and crew were not a professional situation. Our family has been on many snorkeling excursions, this one was by far the worst. In terms of language the captain gave all instructions in Spanish ( crew was frustrsted if you did not speak Spanish, which us dangerous while in the water), this is concerning when it comes safety issues. The captain did not make it clear that the snorkel part of the trip would be lead by a quick swimming crew member on a one mile forced swim. The boat does not park at the reef, patrons must swim a mile to the dead reef. We saw more fish near our hotel beach in Cancun. They also gave regular orange color life preservers for the snorkel trip, these were converted and tied awkwardly around the back of your waist. The strange float system made it difficult to swim the mile. On the cruise back one of the lead crew members gave a special dance as though he was having sex with the front deck floor. This was not appropriate for a family voyage. Each ticket was at a premium $100 price but everyone received a marginal and some what dangerous snorkeling experience.

We were so lucky to be assigned to a smaller catamaran with only 10 guests from 3 families. We really enjoyed the space and attentiveness from the crew. The space is especially important during the pandemic, it made is possible for social distancing on the boat. We had so much fun, great music all the way to and from the island. The buffet lunch was excellent, food was tasty and the restaurant had very good preventive practices, which is so important during this pandemic.
Rene and the crew really took great care of us. They fill up our drinks, they led us to snorkel, and Rene even got us the meeting point in a jewelry store at Isla Mujeres.
Last but not least, the price is so unbelievable. I don't know how this company makes money, but I'd definitely recommend this tour to everyone.

Carlos and his team were so fun and amazing! Me and my boyfriend were the only ones on the boat who didn’t speak Spanish. Carlos would say the instructions in Spanish to everyone then after he would come up to us personally and tell us all the details! Very interactive, communicative and involvement on the boat it was so much fun! Me and my boyfriend applied sunscreen like 4 times there because you’re on the boat for 8-9 hours in the sun we got so burnt 😂 it’s okay just come prepared! I recommend Carlos and his team, he always made sure the group stayed together and no one was left behind! Before we got back to our pickup spot he ended off the tour with dancing on the boat 😋 he got everyone involved and it was so fun! Snorkeling was so cool and getting off to isla mujeres for a couple hours to do your own thing was cool. We also swam with the dolphins!!!!!! I highly recommend they’re so sweet and you get to touch them and have the photographer take photos of you which me and my boyfriend purchased all the photos :-) this excursion I defiantly recommend! HAVE FUN

The driver never showed up. We waited for 1,5 hours outside, we called multiple times and each time we were told that the driver was on its way to pick us up. After the 4th time calling they said that they couldn’t reach the transportation service (so telling us they were underway before was straight up lying), so we were basically screwed. We were supposed to be picked up between 8.15 am and 9 am, however at 10am we were still waiting. No one showed up and we lost a lot of time and our money. If you want to be screwed over on your holiday, book a tour with this company.

Do we have the option to ride around the island with the golf carts?

The option is there, but I want to say we only had about an hour or so when we got there to quickly just browse the area. We used that time to walk around quickly and stop at the little shops to buy some souvenirs. This tour as I mentioned in my review is more of a water cruise and is focused on that. The Isla Mujeres experiences is more of two quick 1 hour stops at different parts of the island (once for the all-inclusive lunch buffet and the second to “explore” on your own). If you truly want to experience Isla Mujeres for several of hours you may want to look at another tour or on going on your own. Either way, good experience! Hope this helps.
