About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Janet J0 contributionsExceptional flavors and Covid safe! This tour is a wonderful opportunity to taste the best local offerings of Guerrero! The mezcal is very impressive and the family story of creating it is truly amazing. The lunch that is provided is the best meal we had in Mexico (my French partner raved that the restaurant was so good it deserved a Michelin Star) and even the local tea and bread was a special experience. Both places were beautifully decorated and all of the people were so hospitable. The drive is a couple of hours, but we’ll worth it and we learned so much about the history of Mexico on the way. The guides also took exceptional safety precautions in light of Covid (they wore masks and sanitized at every stop and always had sanitizer available). Neither restaurant was crowded at all and we felt perfectly safe the whole time. Highly recommend!Written 10 August 2020
- Curiosity320062640190 contributionsThe food and the market with the people... amazing.Absolutely amazing local Acapulco taco tour. Great food and a lot of history about the city and the people! My wife and I can’t wait to come again and do another exceptional tour with Elmira and her family!Written 19 February 2020
- leepA2079UQ0 contributionsEnjoyable way to see AcapulcoWe came in on cruise ship and booked this to get overview of Acapulco. We were a little disappointed with lack of stops. Mostly a driving tour except for Cliff Divers and one other stop for shopping.Written 14 November 2019
- MilesG400 contributionsTaxco day trip.I actually never went , I tried to get a tour but no one was operating it due to total lack of tourists! I was advised to take bus then find a tour guide in taxco. To an Acapulco 4 hour city tour to buy silver from Taxco and see the divers.Written 26 September 2019
- hugolicea060 contributionsMagicalThe baby turtle release was one of the highlights of my trip in Acapulco. Its fascinating to see the baby turtles make their way into the ocean and to think that they won't be back until they are all grown upWritten 4 November 2018
- John M0 contributionsAmazingHighlight of our trip out here. Some of the divers start off on the viewing side of the inlet, and wearing only "speedo" type swimming trunks and in bare feet they climb down the cliff, swim across the inlet then climb up the cliff wall. They have to time their jump to perfection judging the state of the tide before diving 35 meters into the sea. We saw 6 divers, some starting at the 25 meter height and the rest at the full height. What bravery and style !!Written 15 October 2018
- Chris M0 contributionsAcapulco Fort and shoppingThis tour was absolutely amazing! Elvira was very knowledgeable and very well spoken. She was very flexible in accommodating my parents and I. She substituted some of the events that we double booked to make sure we didn't do anything twice and had the best experience. Her and her father were very pleasant throughout the excursion. I purchased a large silver medallion after purchasing it and leaving I thought of how I would like it better if it were customized with no clasp and extra links, so I could just slide it over my head. She took us back to the jeweler on her time. The jeweler didn't have enough links to make it long enough. Elvira saw that I was a little sad to hear that and she found a matching bracelet to extend the necklace. It worked beautifully. I was very happy and very grateful, because she didn't have to do that and she had to wait longer for the jeweler to complete my necklace. I couldn't be happier with her and her tour. It was the highlight of our vacation. I highly recommend Elvira Tours to everyone. They are absolutely fantastic.Written 19 March 2018
- anna m0 contributionsAcapulco Fort and shoppingTruly a great day! Elvira picked us up promptly and with sunshine in her smile. She was extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. We could have listened to her speak of the culture and history of "her" Mexico forever. No teacher could have been more interesting. She was patient and went far out of her way to accommodate us. We would highly recommend this tour but particularly Elvira for any tour while in Acapulco.Written 17 March 2018

- kwarrack0 contributionsChapel of Peace & Turtle ReleaseThis was a bit of a custom tour as we just said "what else should we see" after our previous day tour. They picked us up and just took us on our way. Roger, our guide, and Andy, our driver, both spoke fluent English. Roger is full of information about Acapulco and after the previous day with Elvira, I feel like we just picked up all the history of Acapulco in 2 days. The Chapel of Peace is a wonderful stop. The story behind it is tragic but important. He explained everything and didn't rush at all. He also gave additional info about the ecosystem of Acapulco while we were driving. Just some of the extras we got on the tour. The turtle release was amazing. He again explained everything as we went and answered any questions. Lastly, they took us to a great spot for lunch on the beachfront. Food was great and you can't beat an oceanfront dining experience. We highly recommend Elvira's Tours whenever in Acapulco. They provide excellent service and care. They are very knowledgeable and very friendly. Loved everything about both tours we did. We'd use them again for any services.Written 25 November 2016
- Estrella M0 contributionswarm welcomeI visited Acapulco and used Elvira's tour to show me the city. They met me at the airport and took me to my hotel in the center of the city. I loved the warm welcome of the team and their punctuality. The next day, I took the five hour tour to see the city. This service offers a comfortable and safe way to see Acapulco if you just have a few days to explore the city.Written 30 March 2016
- lexis19790 contributionsThe best way to see AcapulcoWe were visiting Acapulco for the first time and used Elvira's Day Tours to show us the sights. We had a a 4 year old & 6 year old and found it convienient to travel arund in the large, comfortable, airconditioned SUV. Our driver was Jamie and he was very knowledgable about the local history and was very pleasant with the kids. We had him to ourselves and he went out of his way to give us as much time as we wanted at sights. He got us great spots to see the cliff divers and was very friendly. I would recommend using Elvira's Day Tours as they are much cheaper than shore excursions from ships and much more personalised. Thank you Elvira & Jamie for a great day In Acapulco.Written 7 May 2011
- DSR9980 contributionsAcapulco Tour GuideOur family visited Acapulco as a port of call on a Thanksgiving cruise of the Mexican Riviera. Given recent reports of crime in the city, we were advised to hire the services of a tour guide to show us the City. We are so happy that we contacted Elvira Rodriguez of Elvira's Tours, Acapulco. (www.elvirastoursacapulco.com). Contacting Elvira was simple either via e-mail or a US telephone number. She responded immediately and we discussed those things we would like to see while in Acapulco. Of note, we wanted to see the cliff divers, and the Sea Turtle Rescue Center. Because it was my birthday, we also wanted to have a nice dinner at a fun restaurant. Elvira said she would meet the ship upon arrival and would take care of everything. Upon arrival, we were met by one of Elvira's tour guides who was holding a birthday cake with my name on it. Our family loaded into a nice air conditioned van and headed through the city on our way to the Turtle Rescue Center which was some distance from the ship. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a nice city tour. (The ship had lost one of our bags, so our tour included a stop at a local Wal-Mart). We then made it to the Turtle Rescue Center and it was fabulous. Each of our kids were able to pick a baby turtle, and watch it crawl into the sea to begin it's life. We did not know that our tour guide was actually Elvira's father. He informed us that Elvira would be meeting us for dinner and would continue our tour. We went to dinner at Senor Frogs, which has a great view of Acapulco. The food was good, the atmosphere was lively and it was a great place to have a birthday. Elvira joined us, with hats and other things for the kids. She was so kind and considerate. We felt like she was part of the family. She then took us to see an evening show of the famous cliff divers. What a treat. If you do go see the cliff divers, do yourself a favor and see them at night. We then returned to our ship. I can honestly say we had a wonderful experience in Acapulco, and would certainly suggest anyone planning a trip there get in touch with Elvira. You will have a friend for life.Written 10 January 2011
