My family were on a round-trip 3-day Carnival cruise from Port Canaveral to Nassau. We wanted a shore excursion off the beaten path and away from all the cruise ship crowds. We are a family of four: myself, my husband, and two kids (14 year old boy and 11 year old girl). My husband went through the Viator website and found Coconutwater Cruisers. We love bike tours - it's a great way to see a place close up - much better than looking through a bus window!
The owner/tour guide met us at the Nassau McDonald's (near the US embassy, easy to find). He took us by jeep to the start of the tour (5 minute drive). The bicycles were lined up ready to go - nice beach cruiser type bikes in good working order. We each got a bottle of still water and a bottle of fresh coconut water for the trip. We each had a helmet to wear, and earphone headset so that we could hear the guide during the tour. The headsets were a great touch - other bike tours we've been on just had a "shouting" tour guide who was difficult to hear. Coconutwater Cruisers tour was much better in that regard!
The tour went to Fort Charlotte, Da Fish Fry, and Ardastra Gardens Zoo and Conservation Center. The tour normally would also go to the botanical gardens, but there was too much damage from Hurricane Mathew).
At each location, the price of admission or food was included. We had our own private tour at Fort Charlotte, an 18th century British stone fort. It was fascinating! Then Conch fritters at an area called Da Fish Fry. The fritters were hot, fresh and absolutely delicious!! Then on to the zoo - it is small and not as fancy as a US zoo, but still interesting. We got to feed some beautiful birds and watch a flamingo show. Just the plant life alone at the zoo is worth a visit - it is one big gorgeous tropical garden.
Our tour concluded back at the main office, then we were driven directly back to the port.
We really enjoyed this tour. The owner/guide was so knowledgeable and professional. We saw a part of the island that NONE of the cruise line excursions would have taken us to, and we love getting away from the "tourist trap" spots.
Recommend for: families with older kids, couples, groups of adults, people who like adventurous tours, away from port, crowds, shopping and tourists.

I went on the tour with Juan, a great and very friendly guy that knows a lot about the Bahama's. First I got dropped at a beautiful zoo, where I saw the flamingo parade (awkward experience, although others would consider this a highlight) and fed the parrots. Then we went to the fort where I got a short and interesting tour. We ended at a nice fish restaurant where I tasted delicious conch fritters. Altogether, I really liked the tour, but it was different than I expected. The bikes were only used to go from one attraction to the other, the total amount of biking was about 30 minutes max. I would have liked a little more biking and seeing more different neighbourhoods, so I would suggest to add that to the tour.

My boyfriend and I wanted to ride bikes around Nassau and decided to do a bike tour and we’re so glad we did! We were so impressed by the staff, so very welcoming, nice, and accomadating! Charelton was our tour guide and he was super chill and let us spend as much time as we wanted at each stop. My favorite was the flamingos at the zoo!

Juan picked us up at our Resort and to say he is cool and down to earth is a understatement. We met a couple from Pittsburgh that went on the bike tour with us and we all laughed and had a great time. Met Bishop and he is all smiles! I have been on a lot of excursions but this one is more leisure, educational and truly the Bahamas from a cultural background. These individuals are people you will consider friends when done with the tour. When we come back to the Bahamas we will absolutely take the tour again just to see our friends! Enjoyed it Juan and Bishop!

We found Coconut Water Cruisers on TripAdvisor while we were looking for something fun and different to do on excursion cruise day. We didn't want to do the usual snorkeling, Atlantis stuff, so we thought this would be fun...and it was!

Juan, our guide, did an awesome job in giving our family a fun tour of the zoo, Fort Charlotte and the best Conch Fritters ever (we skipped the beach since we were tired of the sand...LOL)! We learned a lot about the history and it was wonderful to spend time with Juan and get a more personal, local take on the Bahamas.

The cruiser bikes were new, or close to it, and they had BMX style bikes for the kids in our group (7 & 8 yr old) so everyone was able to ride in style :)

I would strongly suggest booking this tour with Juan and the team at Coconut Water Cruisers!!

Our guide was Jaun. He was a very knowledgeable and kind native. Nassau schools educate well. It is a great way to see New Providence in a short time. I loved the flamingos! We are experienced long distance bicycle riders. The beach (one speed) bicycles made for a relaxed ride. I had my first conch fritter! Yummy (and my husband bought my a true Bahamas beer - Kalick very good also). The fort was interesting history of Nassau. I wish we could have spent and entire day sightseeing by bike.

Our guide was very friendly, but there is no way around the fact that this tour is way overpriced for what you get. We spent most of our time walking around the zoo, the fort and sitting at a restaurant eating conch fritters. A small amount of our time was on the bikes traveling from place to place. We missed the majority of the tour at the fort because it was not coordinated in advance, and the guide was already out giving a tour when we arrived. We were back at our Airbnb within about 2.5 hours of being picked up, so the tour definitely did not last the full 3 hours advertised.

We booked this excursion based on the positive reviews, but with a bit of hesitation due to the “details”. We were to meet at McDonalds in Nassau and were not quite sure who to look for. The first person to approach us was a taxi driver, although he didn’t look sketchy, the name he gave was was not our contact’s name. He then explained that our contact was in route and our party of 8 would have to be divided to get to the drop off point for the bikes. We agreed, but still nervous at this point. When the vehicles divided and went different directions, we nearly freaked out thinking that we had definitely been kidnapped. This was not the case, thankfully. We were reunited with the rest of our party at a lovely plant nursery, and our fears of becoming victims relieved, we began our trek. Juan quickly became one of our favorite people, and the tour was a delight. Yes, it was hot, but Juan did his best to keep us comfortable, and was especially kind and attentive to our Nana:). The teenagers with us have decided they will be going back to visit him in the future. If I ever go back, I will repeat the tour, as it really was a fun outing for our family.

The company was easy to send a text to in order to get a pick up time and you can do tours on Sundays which is nice since a lot of tours don't do Sundays. Even though it's hot the water and coconut water are refreshing. The bike ride isn't super hard and Juan did a great job taking us around and the stops are all really fun. The flamingo parade and bird feeding was super fun. The conch fritters were delicious. Juan was very down to earth and easy to talk to about Bahamian culture. It does get very warm biking around but that is what is expected biking around during the summer.
Overall it was a fun experience. I wish we could have learned a little bit more but I wasn't prepared to ask a ton of questions since I really didn't know anything so it was nice to just learn something. The fort was probably the least exciting stop on the trip but nonetheless it was a pretty decent stop. Would recommend for those who want a little bit of culture on their trip and to see a few of the local destinations all in one!
