Board your water taxi at 10.30 am at Kaiteriteri Beach and cruise into the Abel Tasman National Park. Cruise by the iconic Split Apple Rock, and Fisherman and Adele Islands where you may see the NZ Fur Seals. After 35 minutes you arrive at Anchorage Bay where you have time to walk the Pitt Head loop track (walk time approximately 1 -1.5 hours), meeting back at Anchorage Beach to join the sailing catamaran departure at 1.15 pm. Catch the sea breeze for a 3 hour sail further into the Park and back to Kaiteriteri. Along the way expect to see secluded coves, islands, golden sand beaches, Bush clad coastline, pristine clear waters and native wildlife. Complimentary tea/coffee and juice is provided on board the sailing catamaran.

So good we did it twice
We booked the trip where you sail up the coast and then walk back. We were blessed with clear skies and warm weather. While there wasn’t enough breeze to go fully under sail, it was still an amazing journey up the coast and past two sanctuary islands where there was bird song and seals. The walk back was beautiful — winding along streams and with access to several gorgeous beaches. When we got to the end point, there was a fantastic restaurant and a much-deserved local beer. We enjoyed it so much that the next day we did the full day sail. The morning was a little different, owing to variations in timing and wind. We had so much fun jumping off the boat into the water to swim and relaxing when we went (gently) under sail for portions of the return trip. This time we got the lunch which was just serviceable but I really didn’t mind, given the pleasure of the location!

      What a day
Overall a great day sailing/motoring on the sea with captain Inki & Claudia exploring the coast of Abel Tasmen park. The weather was perfect and the stop at anchorage beach was awesome! The only thing we would recommend is to improve the lunch options as it really was marginal at best. We only ate half of the wrap. Plus why not put in a bag of crisps instead of charging for them? Thanks again Paul&Ellen

A unique way to see Abel Tasman National Park
The Full Day Sailing Adventure in the Abel Tasman National Park was an unforgettable experience! The stunning scenery—golden beaches, crystal-clear waters, and lush greenery—was enhanced by perfect weather and a skilled, knowledgeable crew who shared fascinating insights about the park. The highlight was sailing into the serene mouth of the Torrent River, a magical moment surrounded by towering cliffs that made this trip truly special—I’d highly recommend it to anyone!

Glorious, relaxing way to see the Abel Tasman coastline.
A totally amazing day! Gorgeous blue skies and stunning scenery. Marco and Claudia looked after us throughout the whole trip, we saw baby fur seals and enjoyed a delicious picnic lunch on the beach. The boat was plenty big enough for everyone to be seated comfortably and move about if they wished. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone who wanted a relaxing way to see this wonderful national park.

nice sailing but why the charge for chips?
boat ride was good and we saw seals. crew was knowledgeable. but why charge the passengers for the potatoes chips packs and put them together with the free cookies - that was just annoying $4NZD. The walk back was nice, the 12km was just enough for us.

      The Best
Marco and Taylor were amazing. Couldn’t ask for a better experience. They were engaging, humurous and both obviously very accomplished sailors. And the spinnaker was the cherry on top

Full day sail from kaiteriteri into the waters of the Able Tasman National Park
The crew made the day, they were very knowledgeable and just made the day fun. A full day sail on a very stable catamaran in a rolling sea. Lunch and a swim. Were shorts as boarding is off the beach.

      Catamaran and Walk
The trip was efficiently organised and we thoroughly enjoyed the catamaran trip to Anchorage Bay. Walk back, especially the first section, was more strenuous than expected. We were surprised to find that some in our trip were taking the catamaran both ways. We had not seen this option advertised, so perhaps offering this option in the advertised trip would be good.

A lovely leisurely sail in the Abel Tasman.
A lovely leisurely sail in the Abel Tasman. From the pick up at the car park to boarding the catamaran, everything was well organised. the sailing conditions were perfect and the friendly crew made it a fantastic few hours until we were dropped off at Anchorage beach for our hike back. Whilst the hike back through the national park was wonderful at the time we both wished we could of just sailed backed and enjoyed the views and weather

Fantastic day sailing, very friendly and accommodating staff
I had an amazing day sailing. I had to change my plans at the last minute because my husband wasn't feeling well, so I had to cancel the morning Kayaking portion of the excursion. Abel Tasman Sailing arranged a water taxi for me to meet up with the boat. They provided a lovely lunch, tea, cookies and snacks in their beautiful catamaran. I highly recommend them.

My wife and I visited New Zealand in 2019 and had booked to do this cruise.
Sadly, a broken ankle meant that Karen could not do the tour at that time, so she was very pleased to be able to do it in 2024
The cruise took us into the Abel Tasman national park and dropped us off at Anchorage beach
We then did the walk to Pitt Head and Te Puketea beach, where one of our party of 4 swam. After the swim, we walked back to Anchorage beach and had some lunch.
Shortly after, the catamaran arrived, and it was comforting to see that the boat offered some shade - that had not been the case in 2019.
The skipper, Rik (?), was very entertaining and accommodating, and as there was not much wind, the return to Kaiteriteri beach was under power.
Rik offered several of the passengers the chance to take the helm, and we were very pleased to have a go. He also navigated the boat into an area that would not normally be possible, because of the tides.
All in all, it was a great day out and we would recommend this to anyone looking for a way to experience the Abel Tasman national park

Such an enjoyable choice for our first adventure in New Zealand.
The crew were amazing. Marco was very knowledgeable about the history of the area. He was very up beat and handled some tricky wind conditions. The boat was beautiful. We really enjoyed the coffe, tea, and bicuits!

The whole package was amazing. The morning trip on The Shuttle was good, the walk out around the point of the peninsula in the cool of the morning had fantastic views. Back in Anchorage we swam in the beautiful clear water before joining the catamaran. My husband, a keen sailor, was allowed to take the helm! The skipper and crew made the trip fun for everyone. They especially encouraged the younger people to participate.
This was one of the best days of our brilliant holiday on The South Island.

Thoroughly enjoyed our trip. We used the water taxi ,9:30 departure, which gave us plenty of time to walk and picnic before boarding the sailing boat. We had an excellent crew, to enjoy our 3 hour trip, Inky and Jane. We even saw a penguin and dolphins which was an added bonus.

It is always a good day when the local wildlife come to say Hi. Seals we usually always see, but dolphins and penguins are a definite bonus. Lucky you!

Easy booking through Victor, description very accurate. Ran right on time. Big, comfortable catamaran sailboat for the afternoon sail. Number of passengers allowed makes for non-crowded conditions. Friendly crew. It would be very nice if they added a 3 or 5 kayak's on the boat (as a competitor does) so that passengers can take a short kayak during the hour between when the sailboat boat arrives at Anchorage Bay and when it departs an hour later if they don't want to hike or swim.

The conditions were perfect for a fun day out on the water. After our shuttle cruise from Kaiteriteri to Anchorage, we walked around the Pitt Head loop track to Te Pukatea Bay, a hidden gem. The highlight was a relaxing afternoon catamaran sail back to Kaiteriteri with our friendly skipper, Mark.

A great trip no doubt helped by good weather & calm seas. Not only to you get the chance to sail up the beautiful coast, including having a go at steering if you wish, but you then have lunch (bring your own) on the beach & get to walk part of the Tasman Coastal path. The walk is quite long (12.5 kilometres) so be prepared for that as it does take a while to get back. But there are great views along the way.

A great and truly enjoyable experience, from the stunning views to the amazing trails this is a must do tour.
The peaceful sailing return along with the kindness and professionalism of Jane and Iky (not sure I wrote it right, he said the other name was Batman but only if we didn’t like the tour, totally not the case :-)) made our day!
    Many thanks
