Overview

Tsukiji Fish Market is the world’s largest seafood market, frequented by some of Tokyo’s finest sushi masters. On this unique, hands-on tour, you’ll stroll through the popular shopping stalls to learn about choosing the ingredients for sushi. Then, a bona fide chef will show you how to prepare the quintessential Japanese meal—with a sampling of sake to accompany your creations.

What to Expect

You’ll head to Tokyo’s well-known Tsukiji Fish Market to meet veteran chefs for an insider’s walk through the largest seafood market in the world. Learn about Japanese cuisine firsthand with a guided walk through the world-famous fish stalls, where you’ll hear about the history of the market and learn how to choose the best ingredients for your meal, depending on the season.

After an informative shopping trip, you’ll head to a hands-on master class in sushi preparation, located in the heart of Tsukiji. Under the instruction of a bona fide sushi master, you’ll learn how to open and fillet the fish you’ve selected, using traditional techniques perfected in Japan’s top restaurants. Beginners are welcome, so you’ll enjoy in-depth demonstrations.

After you’ve prepared your own delicious creations, the group will gather to sample their sushi. As you munch on fresh fish, you’ll also get a chance to enjoy a selection of sake, with anywhere from five to seven bottles available to taste.
