We flew with Turkish Airlines in Business Class from Zurich to Oman with a stopover in Istanbul – both outbound and return. Given all the hype and positive reviews, I had high expectations, but I honestly don’t understand the praise. Especially when airlines like Lufthansa and Swiss are often rated lower in comparisons, my experience with Turkish Airlines was truly disappointing.
Here are the main reasons for my negative review:
No lie-flat seats on an overnight flight in Business Class: This is completely unacceptable! On a longer flight, a proper bed is expected in Business Class for a comfortable rest.
Unfriendly flight attendants: The crew was unhelpful and rude on both flights, making the experience far from premium.
No proactive service: Requests for water or wine had to be made every time – and each time, we were met with annoyed expressions from the staff. This is simply not the level of service one expects in Business Class.
No champagne as a welcome drink: Only juices and syrups were offered, and even upon request, champagne was not available. This is unacceptable, especially when other Middle Eastern airlines offer it as a standard.
Toilets constantly blocked: On both flights, the Business Class toilets were repeatedly locked for over an hour because the crew was using them. At times, they were occupied for 20 minutes straight. This was especially difficult when traveling with a small child, as we couldn’t use the Economy toilets either due to meal service.
Terrible food: Overcooked and lacking any real flavor – a stark contrast to the high-quality meals served by other airlines in Business Class.
Overall, the experience was not worth the price. I had much higher expectations from Turkish Airlines
