It’s like LCC but expensive fare with rude flight attendant
Honolulu - TokyoInternational
I’ve flown with Hawaiian from HNL -HND. The flight attendant was very aggressive. The flight was pretty empty and lot of seats were available, so since I had someone next to me, I decided to move. Then flight attendant came to me, she said “why do you think you can move here? It’s $250 seat!!” I was like, ok. No need to talk like that. I didn’t know and it was in the same area as all other economy. So the worst part is … Hawaiian almost always charge for seat, it’s like LCC but it’s not as cheap to buy tickets. And seats will cost 100 or more. Never had anything like this. And I was a flight attendant before. I’ve flown with many airlines and Hawaiian, the worst in many ways. They serve loco moco. No other choice if you fly in economy. And it tastes disgusting that you can’t even eat. Better not serve that and reduce the price. Now again flying with Hawaiian unfortunately, (even after I promised myself not to fly with them again) After 10 years I’m flying again with kids but they can’t give seats assigned. No wonder they went bankrupt.

Hawaiian Airlines Havoc
Boston - MauiDomestic
On January 30, 2025, I boarded a Hawaiian Airlines flight from Boston to Honolulu, followed by a connecting flight to Maui. Unfortunately, inter-island turbulence delayed then cancelled all flights to Maui until the next day. Stranded at the airport, I secured the first available flight on the morning of the 31st to reach Maui promptly, purchasing a separate ticket to ensure my departure. The decision to acquire another ticket was driven by the need to guarantee my journey to Maui amidst the chaos and disarray caused by Hawaiian Airlines. Flight delays persisted, leading to a situation where my bags arrived before I did—a perplexing turn of events. Let me delve into the chaos, confusion, and disorganization that characterized Hawaiian Airlines' handling of the situation. Passengers endured over 2 1/2 hours in line at the customer service counter following instructions from the airline's PA system. Subsequently, the PA system advised passengers to call Hawaiian Airlines for quicker rebooking, yet reaching them by phone proved futile. Moreover, all rebooking tasks, including inter-island and connecting flights, were consolidated into a single line, while two other customer service desks remained unmentioned and unattended. The reimbursement provided for the additional ticket amounted to a mere $24.00 out of $184.00, a minimal gesture considering the widespread confusion, frustration, and anger induced by Hawaiian Airlines' disarray. Under the circumstances, a full refund would seem more appropriate. It's evident that Hawaiian Airlines has likely encountered turbulence-related disruptions in the past. However, the distressing and disorderly management of this incident raises concerns. Moving forward, I hope they establish a comprehensive plan to address such scenarios and ensure that their staff are adequately equipped to handle such challenges competently. The question of whether I will choose to fly with Hawaiian Airlines again remains unanswered for now. The decision is to be determined. P.S. The Flight was very nice and Personnel were friendly and attentive. Turbulence caused the meals to be adjusted in the end but the food was enjoyable.

HORRIBLE HAWAIIAN AIRLINES 1ST CLASS!!!
Seattle - MauiDomestic
This was THE WORSE FIRST CLASS I've ever flown. Outdated A330-200, horrible food, uncomfortable seats with a strange folding/unfolding sequence. No flat screen monitors. They give you those stupid i-pads positioned so you have to be in a sitting position in order to see the screen. On my flight from Seattle to Kona, they have to replace the i-pad 3 times (!) because the battery got to 5%. What a rip-off! On Lufthansa, Air France, Turkish Airlines the business class is 10x better. Not looking forward to fly back to Seattle. What a shame!

Unacceptable maintenance issues and pathetic counter agents
Honolulu - LihueDomestic
Issue #1 - We arrived from Seattle in Honolulu on our way to Lihue. We were in line to board when the gate agents informed us that we needed to move gates because our plane was having maintenance issues. So, we moved. Everyone boarded. The captain announced that we needed to get off and go back to the original gate due to maintenance issues with this plane. They had to bring yet another plane from storage. We finally boarded and left (very late of course). Issue #2 - Our return flight from Lihue to Honolulu (and eventually back to Seattle) was pathetic. We showed up at 4:45 AM for our 6:00 AM flight. The counter did not open until 5:00. We were first in line when they opened. Since our flights were booked via Delta, we could not check-in online. As of an hour before we arrived, the Delta app showed that we had confirmed first class seats on the 6:00 flight. The woman at the counter informed us that she did not show anything in their system even though I had evidence on my phone that we had seats. We went to the Delta counter (which was closed). My husband went back to the Hawaiian counter to buy new tickets so we would not miss our flight to Seattle while I called Delta. The Delta representative indicated that we did, in fact, still have seats. I quickly went back to the Hawaiian agent and handed her my phone. The agents argued for a minute then the Hawaiian agent handed my phone to my husband, gave him back his driver's license, informed us that it was too late to purchase tickets for the 6:00 flight and walked away After standing there stunned for a minute, we went to another Hawaiian agent and purchased tickets for the 6:47 flight.

Worst customer Service Ever!!!!!!
Buffalo - MauiDomestic
We fly First Class and we spend months thru out the year there booking multiple flights from Buffalo, NY. Worst customer service and no matter what if you have to cancel and rebook if you can’t rebook both ends of the flights within a year from purchase they take your money. I lost $6000 this last time because of it. And the time before I had to call 8 times to get someone that could actually help me and it was the first year of Covid when we were told to stay away. If they didn’t work it out I would have lost $9000 that time. You can get a refundable regular seat but not in first class so again be careful what type of seat you book because they don’t care they will take your money. And numerous times they cancel the first flight going there and move that to the day before so I have to get a hotel where my connecting flight is going to be the next day. In behalf of the out of country call center the customer service reps can’t do any more than you can online. I have book my last flight on Hawaiian except for island jumping.

Book refundable regular ticket because they have it so if you need to change your flight they will take your money and hang you out to dry.

Do not expect them to honor anything that they promise, travel with them at your own risk. Seats were also extremely uncomfortable.
