Airline Summary

The fifth-largest airline in the United States, Seattle-based Alaska Airlines (IATA: AS; ICAO: ASA) flies to more than 100 destinations in the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Canada. As the name implies, it's a major carrier in the state of Alaska, flying to about 20 large and small destinations throughout the state. However, the airline has a major presence serving destination on the West Coast of the United States of America. The airline has five hubs: Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Portland International Airport (PDX), San Francisco International Airport (SFO), Seattle–Tacoma International Airport (SEA), and Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC). Aircraft operate with two classes of service: First Class and Main Cabin (Economy Class). Premium Class in the Main Cabin, offering additional legroom and priority boarding, is being added to aircraft. Passengers flying in First Class have access to the airline's Alaska Lounge with locations 7 airports. On 25 April 2018, Alaska Airlines and Virgin America merged. The combined airline is known as Alaska Airlines. The combined fleet consists of Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, and Embraer aircraft.

This is the worst airline I ever used! I just came back from Canada and I carried glass maple syrup bottles in my checked bag. I carefully wrapped the bottles and packed them in my luggage. I made sure they were both secured and very well packed before leaving to the airport. Everything was good. But after picking up my luggage at baggage claim and went outside to my driver I noticed the maple syrup leaking! They broke one of my bottles! It was a mess to clean up! Ruined lots of stuff. That's not all. Alaska almost made me miss my second flight by taking their sweet time. The seats were the worst. So cramped up and tight. The seat belt very short I had to force it on. Windows unalined so the person in front would fight over the window between us. Dirty trays and no were to put my phone or tablet. Our flight was only 3 hours but seemed like forever. Also took about 30 minutes for our luggage to get to us also causing me to almost miss my ride. I wanted to use Air Canada but they didn't have any available for the day I needed. Air canada in my opinion is the best! First and last time I fly with Alaska. It was a nightmare with them. I also tried filing a complaint and they told me I had to do it when I was there. Like really? Never again Alaska!

The customer service was amazing on business class. The food was some of the best food I have ever had on an airplane. I talked to the pilots and they were super nice. The flight attendant gave me a badge which was super cool. The aircraft type was a relatively new 737-800/900. Over all I would rate this airline 4.8 stars.

First, our flight got delayed for an hour and the inflight entertainment and map you get on your phone didn't work. Next time I will use a better airline.

I flew from Australia to Seattle and then on to Vancouver. Between Seattle and Vancouver, Alaska Airlines destroyed my Rimowa suitcase beyond repair. I did all the right things, ie lodged the claim at the airport then followed up with a proper claim including photos and as much detail as possible. The only thing I couldn't provide was a receipt as the suitcase was purchased in 2015! However, Rimowa suitcases are indestructible provided they are treated appropriately and with care. On that short flight, baggage handlers managed to pull the wheel housing from my suitcase and tore the aluminium casing rendering the suitcase irreparable. Alaska Air consider an appropriate compensation to be USD100.00 to replace a USD1550.00 suitcase! NEVER WILL I TRAVEL WITH THEM AGAIN!

This was the worst airline I ever traveled in. I had no choice it was the only one available to my destination that day. First the seat belts are short I barely was able to get buckled. Never happened in other airlines, second the seats are way smaller and very little leg room. My husband and I were squished laying arms on top of one another because we could barely fit. It was a very uncomfortable flight. I've been on american airlines and air Canada those are great but Alaska is by far the worse flying experience ever. After landing they took another 20 minutes to get us off almost causing me to miss my next flight. The tray was dirty and sticky. No place to put your phone or tablet like other airlines and no screen either. I'm sure these Alaska airlines use very old planes. With the prices they charge they need to update the entire plane.
