Bottom line: Air India seems to change flights and keep our money. We purchased business class tickets for our domestic flights in India. In the end, they changed our tickets each time within weeks of the flight. - the first time, we paid more to avoid the 6am flight...then about 10-wks before the flight, Air India canx our flight and moved us to the 6am flight. When we asked for the fare difference to be refunded (because we paid more to AVOID the 6am flight), they said the ticket price was now the same cost as our ticket, so no refund was due - the second flight was the only flight (the whole week) with a domestic business class section. All other flights were economy only. It was a 9:40pm - 11:40pm flight (not optimal, but we picked it because we needed the luggage allowance and leg room). Just over a month before the flight, we got a notice that they changed planes to an economy only configuration. Our travel agency has been trying to get the refund of the fare difference (it looks like they are trying to triple the price of the economy ticket value and refund us far less than we should receive) and get our seat assignment worked out, since we no longer have our business class seats. We can't get an official response. We were also just told we no longer have confirmed tickets since we haven't accepted their modification. WHAT??? All we asked for was for them to confirm the refund due to us before we accepted the change, and they have never responded. They have had $680 for more than 6-months from us. The highest economy seats are worth $160 (total) and are still available, today. So here we sit, without a refund (which won't be processed until after we complete the flight in 3 weeks), and they won't confirm we still have tickets/seats until we accept their modification, which we won't accept until they confirm the refunded cost. It's a great scheme. Get us to pay more each time, then change the deal just before our trip (knowing we can't do anything about it because all our other plans are locked in), then find a reason the refund isn't due (or is far less than it should be). We chose them because we trusted a Star Alliance brand. In both cases, we our travel plans were changed drastically (and for the worse) in the 11th hour at our expense. STAY AWAY, is our advice!!!…
