Minnesota-based Sun Country Airlines (IATA: SY; ICAO: SCX) is a leader in leisure travel flying nonstop to more than 50 destinations across the United States, Caribbean, Mexico and Central America. The airline has a hub at Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (MSP), and has focus cities that include Portland (PDX), Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Madison (MSN) and St. Louis (STL). The airline has an all-economy cabin with two seating types: Best and Standard seats. Best seats are in the forward section of the cabin and come with extra legroom, a moveable headrest, extra recline, USB charging ports and standard AC power outlets, preferred boarding and a complimentary premium beverage. Standard seats also include USB charging ports. All passengers receive a complimentary non-alcoholic beverage and access to a free in-flight entertainment system via steaming on your own portable device. Amenities vary by aircraft.

Crappy experience

Minneapolis - HarlingenDomestic

We arrived at the airport with more than an hour to get to our gate and on the email it said that boarding closes 10 minutes before our flight. We arrived at our departure gate at 707 and nobody mentioned anything to us and there were no text updates or announcements on the overhead intercom announcing 15 mins b4 10 mins b4 5 mins b4 or saying last call. Boarding f4om msp to help. Didnt say our names or anything. Looked at the time 732 and asked my friend if it said delayed...and nope departed it said. We asked the guy at the door heading into the trrllerminl gate if we missed it and all he said was yes and turned and closed the door walking away. We had no idea what to do next, and yeah, finally found somebody to help us. We were given our tickets for the next day's flight and yeah, call for an uber, and the employee walked us. in the wrong direction and the Uber couldn't find us and charged us extra for wait time. When we arrived this morning for our second flight, we went up to the gate and they told us that we were on Standby, which the lady never told us. So we had to get in the back of the line, and they had to assign us new seats. Yesterday was an all around negative customer service day. With people that didn't know what they were doing and weren't very helpf miserable to be there. Today has been a much better experienc thank God . But we still missed out on one whole day's vacation and weren't able to get a refund for our hotel. Should be more helpful, kind, happy and communicate and be willing to help

They lost my luggage on Dec18 still didn’t hear anything from them

I had a terrible experience with Sun county airline. They lost 1of our luggage on Dec 18 from Philadelphia to St. Paul Airport. I still didn’t hear anything from them. I had to buy what I needed for my Christmas holiday. Every times, I called them I had to start the story over and over from luggage number. They don’t have any customer service at all and don’t care. 😡 This is totally different experience I had with AA. They ruined our 2024 Christmas. DO NOT USE THE SUN COUNTRY AIRLINES. I

It was the worst experience I’ve ever had! Garbage!

I have a sun country credit card, and we’ve been flying with them for years, but ever since there were bought out. They ultimately suck now! We’ve been waiting to leave on the damn plane for 2 hours! They won’t let you get up to use the bathroom. I have Diabetes so I frequently urinate. It’s ridiculous! I am about to pee on the seat! They are always rude and bitchy! When ever I fly Icelandic air it’s a dream of an experience! I’m thinking about cutting up my card with them and going with someone else! Bye sun country!

Never again!

Minneapolis - Las VegasDomestic

Last time I ever fly Suncountry. 2hr + delay for both flights too and from Minneapolis to Las Vegas. On the way to LV, the captain never came on the overhead system and addressed the passengers. Never apologized for the delay, or spoke about the expected flight or possible turbulence. Upon landing in LV we sat for almost 40 minutes before hooking up to breezeway. Again, no communication as to what was going on. The staff at the baggage counter was extreamly rude in Minneapolis. It took well over 30-45 minutes for our baggage to get to the carousel at both the Las Vegas and Minneapolis airports. The seats on the airplane were very uncomfortable as well. Never again will I fly on this airline.

I hate this airline.

I possible to print off boarding pass yourself or at a kiosk. You have to wait in a painfully long line to get checked in even if you have no checked bags. The workers take forever. For some reason only sun country customers are forced to go pay an extra tax at a separate desk. They do not warn you about this and so you lose your spot and have to restart.
