We had oppies fried rice, so many extras in it lots of prawns pork egg onions very nice but a pity they used frozen carrots and peas. Pork fried dumplings were very good and the Singapore noodles came with lots of prawns and extras in...them. Very tasty. Place was busy for Wednesday evening. Staff very friendly and attentive. Meal was quick coming from the kitchen. Will come again.More

Found this place on my phone looking for restaurants or anything apart from Mcdonalds etc We had the most amazing fish & chips.. chips were fresh with a crispy outside and fluffy inside, a variety of fish, we had snapper, fresh as, yummy!! Can eat...inside, we had them wrapped up in butcher paper and sat outside where bench and seats are provided (1 or 2). Good value. You will not be disappointed.More

I do not like giving bad reviews. On this occasion I feel compelled, in the interests of the public’s hard earnt money and in the interests of the public’s cardiac health. If I could give less than 1 star I would. We ordered the snapper,...which I doubt was snapper and if it was it was a sliver of a fillet straight from the freezer and cooked to resemble the leather sole of a shoe. The burgers were on stale buns with indescribably bad fried patties that even the kids wouldn’t eat. The kumera chips were an oil laden, cold, soggy mess. The regular chips were an undercooked, oil laden cold, floury, chewy mess. We thought we’d experiment with a paua fritter which is an experiment not to be repeated, I’d suggest by anyone. I can’t stomach Maccas, but on this occasion would have preferred to sink $75 there than at Oppies, where at least I could be relatively confident it would stay down (if I could bring myself to venture past a mouthful of each item).More

We chose this place based on recommendations on safari but it definitely didn’t meet expectations. We decided to dine in and ordered two kids meals and a fish burger combo. The kids meals consisted of just cooked hoki fish and thickish undercooked batter, chips were...ok. I ordered additional sauce and aioli which came in punnets and cost $7.50 for both. The garlic aioli was slightly yellow and had crystallised bits at the top of it and tasted off, the tomato sauce tasted metallic. I took the aioli back as thought it may have been mixed up with the garlic butter they sold but the Chinese owner confirmed it was the aioli and was “ delicious as homemade”. My husband got a fish burger and said the burger was soggy, lettuce soft and the fish smelt it included a small amount of chips and a can of drink. There were quite a lot of other people dining in but they were all having Chinese dishes no one had ordered fish and chips. We got back to the hotel we were staying at and my husband headed to the bathroom with an upset stomach. He probably only had 1/4 of the burger. My daughter was enjoying watching the eels swimming in the tank in front of us until one was scooped up in a net and taken out the back presumably for cooking. The place looked like it could do with a good clean, water filter dirty, clear partition wall at our table had some sort of congealed white stuff on it. All in all a very dissatisfying yuk meal would not recommend.More

Greasy. You don't need a hamburger pattie to be dipped in batter. Won't be recommending or going back. Better places to go.

Had gurnard and it was awful. Not fresh, opaque, horrid Snapper was good, chips were good but for that price you shouldn’t be serving fish that is not fresh

I visited this place years ago and I was really looking forward to going there again. I shouldn’t have bothered. The quality was very poor and you didn’t get much for what you paid. I don’t recommend going there and I suggest saving your money...and going elsewhere!More

Not happy at all with our experience here, spent a good whack of money and wasn’t even allowed to sit inside and eat it even though there was no one else there, burgers were smothered in T sauce so was soggy as, prawn dish was...a joke 6 small prawns for $24 and a ton of rice. A poor elderly man couldn’t even sit inside and eat his fish and chips so he was outside in the cold like us. Definitely gone down hill from back in the day!More

Legitimately the best Chinese food ever. Had a takeaway meal and everything was perfect. Full of flavour, well cooked and fresh as can be. Highly recommend the stir fried beef noodles and Oppie's fried rice. Sweet and sour chicken went done well with everyone too....A new favourite place to eat and will definitely be visiting Rotorua again to eat here many more times.More

Crisp, greaseless batter; flaky, perfectly cooked and large snapper fillets. Chips were good but would’ve matched the fish with another 20-30 secs in the deep fryer or maybe not double-cooked?? Seems to be the way, everywhere, these days! Must try the Chinese range soon-ish.
