One of my best friends and I were here for the #1 trip on our bucketlist...Australia and New Zealand. After an overnight flight from Texas, we were unable to check in upon arrival. The room was not ready until several hours after our arrival. I was hoping for a smile or friendly greeting but did not receive either. Dinner at their restaurant was the worst experience while in New Zealand. I ordered a steak, which was overcooked. There have been very few times I returned a dish, but this was one. A few minutes later, the manager came to my table to argue the steak was not overcooked because he " cut into it and saw a little pink." I told him there was no pink at all and was visibly overcooked even without cutting into it. After contradicting me one more time, he said he was having the chef make one "less cooked." I could not believe how poorly this manager handled this situation, especially since I was courteous and understanding during the entire incident. Additionally, the waiter never returned to the table to check in or for anything at all. At the end of the meal, we had to get up and cash ourselves out. The cashier asked if we were Americans, to which we responded yes. Based on his reaction, I decided we should not even ask his reason for the question since it would have likely led to having to respectfully "put someone in their place."

Dear Exploration738574, We always want to do right by our guests and in this case we have not met your expectations, and for this we sincerely apologise Please know that check-in time for all guests is from 2pm onwards on the day of arrival. While we do our best to accommodate early arrivals, we cannot guarantee room availability before 2pm unless the previous night's accommodation has been booked. Nevertheless, we offer secure storage for guests' belongings should they arrive before check-in time, allowing them to explore Auckland comfortably until their room is ready. Your feedback regarding your dining experience has been passed along to our Head Chef and Duty Manager. It is our priority to ensure a relaxed dining atmosphere and fulfill guests' meal preferences. Our team comprises both locals and international staff with diverse backgrounds, all of whom are genuinely interested in guests' journeys into Auckland. We pride ourselves on being an international hotel that celebrates diversity and welcomes guests from all walks of life. Once again our sincere apologies for your experience.

This is an excellent Hotel. It also has a great restaurant with it at affordable prices. The staff is very friendly and accomodating. The place is clean and modern. I would highly recommend this place to stay. There is on site laundry. It is not in the central busness district but it is close enough to use a short cab/uber/lyft ride to musuems and the CBD.

The Parnell Hotel and Conference Centre is located in one of Auckland's most beautiful residential areas: Parnell. From there, many of the city's sights can be easily reached on foot or by public transport. There are plenty of parking spaces on the hotel grounds. The reception and service are impeccable. Our flat was situated on the fourth floor, from where we enjoyed a wonderful view of the city, the harbour and the sea with Rangitoto Island. We needed no TV: The views during a day with changing weather conditions are just magnificent. Our two bed rooms, the living room, the small, well-equipped kitchen and the bathroom were clean and comfortably furnished (including nice toiletries). The flat was cleaned daily and the bath and kitchen towels were replaced when necessary. The hotel's own restaurant, Gladstone, offers a reasonable hot breakfast and a good selection of delicious dishes for lunch or dinner. We enjoyed the wines as well as the various dinners. The staff was attentive and very friendly. The choice of restaurants in Parnell is very good. During our 10-day stay, we enjoyed a few fine meals out. The Auckland War Memorial Museum, located in the centre of the huge "Domain" park, is around a quarter of an hour's stroll away. It is always worth a visit. So is the Anglican Cathedral, almost just round the corner from the hotel. Not to forget the local parks with a rose garden. We will gladly return to this hospitable place: The price-performance ratio is sensationally good.

Igloo Cruise booked us into this hotel for a 4 night stay prior to our cruise. On arrival, after a 24 hour flight, hotel looked quite nice however we were directed to the "annexe". This could only be described as a hostel or cell block. The décor was extremely poor and scuffed, the windows were thick with green mould and there was a smell permeating from the room. The sheets were clean as was the room but possibly due to the state of the maintenance it appeared worse. We went over to the restaurant for breakfast and I asked for a half portion of French Toast. I was told they do not provide half portions only kid size portions. I said that would be fine but was told they couldn't serve me that as I was an adult. They seemed to think it was preferable to give me a full portion and for me to leave half of it. Can someone please inform me the sense of this? We decided not to stay there, however as we had so much luggage for the cruise we left the bulk of our cases taking only what was required. We returned to collect them 4 days later and pick up the taxi that was booked for us. We informed reception of what we were doing but no one was particularly interested. Receptionist just looked at me when I said the room was unacceptable. Not a great start to an extremely expensive holiday. Igloo Cruise also have some answering to do for placing guests there in this first place. It is also out of town and a taxi to Auckland Central was $35.00 each way. I am unable to add Photos but perhaps just as well as they are quite shocking.

Dear Christine, We always want to do right by our guests and in this case we have not met your expectations, and for this we sincerely apologise. Our management team has investigated the room you stayed in and there some areas that do need some extra attention and will be addressed. We have been progressively renovating our bathrooms across the property on both our North Facing Wing and the South Facing Wing you stayed in, and this work is being continued throughout this year to complete all of our guest rooms. While we do not offer half portions of our dishes, the kids sized portion should have been available to you, I’ve spoken with our Restaurant and Kitchen staff around my expectations on this and that whether it is a regular or kids portion that it be available if requested. Guests enjoy our location just out of the city centre away from the noise but easily accessible via frequent public transport. We sell AT HOP cards from reception to enable guests to travel. There are many rideshare services available which are more affordable than taxi services, our staff are always available to answer questions on available options to get around. Once again our sincere apologies for your experience.

Had a pleasure 3 night stay at The Parnell Hotel, and I have stayed here before. I stay in 102 on the ground floor. I was a bit disappointed staying on the ground floor as it didn't have the view looking across Auckland Central. The last time I stayed here, I had a view. Room 102 was very nice and comfortable, with great air conditioning, and I sure needed it during hot days. I do want to mention there is a bit of ehco when other guest close their room door. Otherwise, it's very quiet most of the time. Would I stay again 100 percent? Yes, I will stay again and highly recommend it.

Dear Gordon1830, thank you your recent stay with us and taking the opportunity to leave a review of your experiences. Unfortunately we're not always able to give a higher floor room to guests to request it, each floor has the same configuration of room types so it may mean a different viewing experience for a guest on our first floor in a King Balcony room and a King Balcony on our forth or fifth floor. Our staff do try and accommodate as many requests as we have and take into account whether someone has stayed before and may not gotten a higher floor room before. We do look forward to welcoming you back again on your next stay.

We had a very nice 2 night stay at the Parnell Hotel and Conference Centre. Friendly staff, nice room and beds. Adequate cooking pots and utensils. The location is close to the city centre/shopping streets, and it cost us around $10 to get an Uber to Queen Street. Overall, a 5 star hotel.

The Parnell is located in a lovely part of Auckland and there are lots of cafes and eateries in walking distance. The houses in the area are also lovely with lots of character! Our room had a great view of the city and port and it was nice to sit on the balcony in the morning and watch a cruise ship come in to dock. The room was spacious and the kitchenette was great as it meant we could make meals and not eat out every night. We ate at the restaurant twice and the food was tasty and reasonably priced. Would have no hesitation staying at the Parnell again!

Excellent place to stay. Very clean and spacious room. Great location, close to city but far enough away to avoid the noise a big City can generate. Lovely friendly staff. Parnell Hotel and Conference Centre me exceeded all my requirements for a more than comfortable place to stay.

An excellent place to stay. I always stay there on visits to Auckland. Staff are so obliging. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable. Lovely views of Auckland and the harbour. The rooms are cleaned daily to a high standard. The restaurant is great if you don't want to venture out. To sum it up - very good value.
