Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was a very helpful lesson for newbies in fly fishing. I was totally satisfied. My wife has been here with me and enjoyed this as well, so now we have to buy a new fly rod for her :))

What a wonderful experience.
If you've been fly fishing for many years and think you can come to NZ to catch fish - think again. These fish are smart and often in places perhaps over fished. Over the past few years I've traveled to NZ from Australia and tried my luck without much success. This year however was very different. Engaging Ayato from River Talk Guiding proved to be a very wise choice. His extensive knowledge of the local rivers, what the fish were feeding on and the best technique to use was an amazing educational experience for me. Ayato's instruction on the finer details of fly casting helped me hone my techniques to be on target time and time again. The day was a day of hard fishing which produced a number of beautiful Big Brown Trout.
Ayato "thank you so very much" I look forward to our next adventure.

Following our wedding my new wife Holly, myself and our 15 month old son headed for two weeks in the south island of NZ. We road the otago central rail trail with fly gear and waders aboard our tandem bike and baby trailer and were looking to get some fishing done where we could. Before we set out we took a day's guided tour with Ayato out from Queenstown. Although conditions were far from ideal with most rivers swollen following a snow melt - we had a superb day - learnt a huge amount and were very impressed with how accommodating Ayato was with our unusual group (one complete beginer in Holly and a baby!). Holly, having only ever practiced a handful of casts under my incorrect instruction managed to catch a brown and further more went on to catch another two days later on her next attempt. My engrained incorrect casting technique was pulled to pieces to be reborn as something of a master piece - all at the hand of Ayato with his Japanese background and attention to fine detail. He also taught us how to read the river and fish to where a fish is likley to be rather than only where we've been able to spot one. This coaching proved invaluable and I had a lot of fun in catching three trout over the following week and a further few that I failed to land :) Thanks Ayato - All the best - we hope to return soon. PS. Ayato told us of his plans for a little fishing hut to be placed in a prime location south of queenstown between a number of great rivers - Ask about this as I feel it will be available by the 2016 season.

My son and daughter always wanted to learn fishing and we found Ayoto-san. Ayoto offered to do fishing lessons for half day, generous with his time, both our children instantly got along with him, he took us to couple of fishing spots - one near gold club, and the other on the lake itself. Very professional through out, organised the license, transported both the children and us to spots, bought lunch for children, and even made a reservation for us at a local joint, V Know. Genuine in his interactions and children seemed to enjoy it because they spent hours casting and reeling back. Highly recommended - but make sure that he understands your requirements - especially if you want to catch lot of fish! Some what expensive but rather a good way to spend an afternoon if you can afford it!

Ayato is a great guide who is passionate about his profession. If you are traveling to the South Island of NZ and going to be in the Queenstown or Wanaka area Ayato is a 'keen' guide who will work hard to get you onto fish. An amazing day!
